Refund Advance- credit karma closed account

Got the card in the mail yesterday and they accepted my federal and state around the 24th of January I was supposed to get in advance and have nothing what do I do?

So this was a mass event? 

I was told I was closed because they couldn’t reach me in November to verify me. But yet it didn’t match the 60 day policy. So constant different information is being given out. And I was told the 15 day period was suppose to be waived along with old accounts being given back and yet that’s being denied even tho I was told that by a rep of TurboTax. Yall are gonna lose tons of business because of this. It’s insane the blame game that’s happening. I need my account back so I can re do my taxes and get my advance. Every year I have no problem, and now thanks to yall partnering with them instead of using the turbo card.

Has anyone figured out how to get the closed account removed so that the refund advance can process successfully through the new spending account made?

Unfortunately You can't. We all have to wait for the IRS to send it to these accounts. Them reject it. Send back to IRS. And IRS cut us a check and mail it. Turbo needs to drop credit karma or I'll never use them again.

There's a ton of us this happened to. I've been researching since Friday when I noticed mine was closed. This is outrageous. When I called turbo the lady had no idea about this but took notes about it. They make us use that card and then just close it when they want. That's crap. Turbo better drop credit karma for the advance. Credit karma screwed Alot of people over. You have to play with my money only once to lose me forever. I've used turbo for a veryyyyyy long time. But I will not hesitate to go somewhere else bc of this.

I’ve had refund sent to my credit karma account for the last two years and received a refund both times with everything going smooth as it could so when I filed on the 29th of Jan this year I selected to have my refund sent to credit karma spend account again and all I checked  to see was if my credit karma debit card had expired and it was good I didn’t even think to see if my account had been closed so I figured all was good until I looked on the app and noticed that my spend money account had been closed but I had already filed when I realized it was so that’s why I chose the username idkwht2do because I don’t what to do cause I can’t find phone number anywhere to call see what I can do . I did send a email to the support line or what ever it’s called but still have heard a **bleep** thing so if anyone can help me plz do so cause I’m lost

As noted earlier in this thread, there was a bulk account closure on January 25th. Credit Karma has since paused the bulk account closure process.

Once a Credit Karma account has been deactivated, your personal information can’t be used to create another account without the Credit Karma support team’s assistance.  See the Credit Karma article I’m having trouble signing up for Intuit Credit Karma for more information.

If your account was closed on the day you received the Refund Advance, or before you received it, you'll receive your check in the mail.

They told me they sent an email requesting that I verify my personal information and since I didn’t do that the account was closed. Aside from not seeing any email, why am I verifying my information. I haven’t changed anything. Leave well enough alone. I’ve had my actual bank for years they have yet to ask me to verify anything, Smh.

Just so everyone in this thread knows. You can call the irs to have them cut you a paper check. You have to ask them to cancel your direct deposit. I was told it can take up to 6 weeks from the date you filed and that the IRS received the return. When I called today he told me they don’t have access to the 2023 returns until February 16th so I’m gonna call back then. I’m in the same boat with everyone else here, I filed my taxes on the 18th I believe and they accepted my federal taxes on the 22 and then credit karma closed my account on the 25 I didn’t receive any email on November 20 like they said. I claim 4 children so you can imagine my frustration that credit karma will have access to that. Hoping that the irs doesn’t approve my return before the 16 so that when I call they can cancel the direct deposit and send the check out instead

Wow...just wow! Spent the last 3 or 4 days on this no I know. 

One thing to note...as I'm sure we have found out. If you paid turbotax out of your refund and got advance refund to credit karma the actual routing and account number is a third part bank that first receives the refund to then take their portion back before its sent to the actual account on your 1040. I called irs and they would have just mailed it directly but I couldn't confirm that information for them to actually do anything so basically TurboTax gets paid but we all have to wait as well as deal with the loss from the issues of the credit karma account being closed.

They can't change it unless you prepaid the fees for turbotax and didn't get an advance. Irs has a third party routing and account number for turbotax that receives your refund first in order to collect their portion before sending to your account. Turbotax could in theory change it before it gets routed out to the actual account on your 1040 but I doubt they care as long as they get their money.

I thought I was crazy! Between credit karma terrible customer service saying my account was closed due to missing info when they couldn't even tell me what was missing after having this account for 2 years. I had money in the account now waiting for a check in the mail with the remainer of my account and get told I have to wait for my refund to get mailed because the account its suppose to go into is no longer open. Really glad I'm not relying on my refund to survive or fix anything major but some people do! It's all bull and I will never be using credit karma again after this huge mess. Can't wait to receive my money in July because credit karma decided to pull some crap

If you had your fees taken out of your refund, I've read that SBTG will mail you a check if the deposit is rejected. So it won't actually come from credit karma. I'm hoping this is the case. It makes sense considering they are sent the money first then they send it to whatever account listed. And if that amount is closed or whatever, they will automatically just cut the check. This makes me feel better knowing it's coming from SBTG bc I been reading that the checks from credit karma are bad and absolutely nowhere will cash them. You point get a check from credit karma for whatever was in your account when they closed it. WE NEED TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I already filed a complaint with the BBB. I suggest everyone do so and call TurboTax and tell them the situation. So they can begin the process of dropping that **bleep** ass company, credit karma. Bums won't let us change our own information but credit karma has ZERO of my old addresses correct. Spelling and/or numbers all wrong. I think I know where I live and I should be able to change it my **bleep** self. Credit karma needs to go the **bleep** out of business.
