INTUIT emailed me that my returns were rejected, but Turbotax still says the status is "PENDING". Which one should I believe? The email says I should open Turbotax and it should give me options to fix the issue. I can't find such a thing. What do I do now? Their phone help really is a joke.

Thanks for your reply. I did try calling them multiple times. Each time I just got a computer, and it was not helpful at all. It asks for my SSN. Then it says it can't find anything.
I just tried again, using the link you provided to find a phone number. What I got 1-800-446-8848. Previously I called the number 1-800-624-9066 which was given to me when I went through Turbotax Help menu. Either way, the result was the same. It asked me for reason to call, I said "my return was rejected". It then said “would you like me to find out the reason for the reject and provide you personalized help?". I said yes. It then asked for my SSN. It had a hard time understanding what I said. After several times repeating my SSN, it finally said, sorry I could not find a REFUND using the info you provided. Then it says "you can check the status online. Would you like to receive a link?". I answered yes. It texted me a link. When I used the link, I was asked to sign in. I did. But I can not find any link/button that would allow me to check the status of my return. Nothing! The whole thing is a joke. I have been using TT for many years. Now I am seriously considering switching to a different product for next year.
Does anyone from INTUIT read these posts? I can't find any way of contacting a real person at Turbotax. It has been over 72 hours since I transmitted my e-file documents, but my status is still "pending".
Is Turbotax's custom service number hacked? Every time I call it, it ask me for my SSN. No matter how I give it the number it says "I don't hear a valid SSN". Granted, if my accent is so bad, the computer might not understand what I said, but it gives the same response even if I type the number on the phone. I typed a valid 9 digit SSN, but it still says "I don't hear a valid SSN. I need a nine digit number". I am now afraid to call that number again for fearing that it was there just to collect my SSN. Will Turbotax ever let their customers talk to a real person?
If you used the Online version you can check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
If your efile rejected the most common reason is for the wrong AGI. Enter 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. That works for most people. See,

How to correct the AGI in the Online version

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
Thanks for the suggestions, VolvoGirl.
I used the desktop version (PC version), not online version. So the link you provided, regarding checking e-file status, does not help. I tried it anyway. After logging in, it says I have not filed.
Checking status in the desktop Turbotax continued to say "pending".
The Turbotax email did say that the reason for rejection was AGI. However, I am sure I did enter it correctly. I checked the value from my 2020 Turbotax record. I also checked the value with the IRS transcript. So the fact that IRS does provide a transcript for me indicates that it is not the case that IRS does not know my AGI. Furthermore, since Turbotax (on my desktop) still thinks my filing is "pending", there is no way for me to make any correction or take any other actions (I tried to run e-file again, but Turbotax did not allow me to do it). Perhaps the desktop version has a bug? Can INTUIT make a quick fix?
So it looks like printing and mailing my returns is my only option now. This is so frustrating. For the last couple of years Turbotax did not allow me to e-file. This year I was delighted to find that I could e-file again, but only to end up in this big mess. Disappointing is a mild word to describe my mood.
Hmmm, the Desktop lookup has been glitchy. You can try Efiling again. If it already went through nothing bad will happen. Back in April 2022, The consensus seemed to be that users needed to close and re-open the program to update the e-file status shown. It was reported to the moderators but I don't think it was ever worked on. Probably a pretty low priority
For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program. Open your return and go up to menu item
File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status
Yup, I have been doing "File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status" countless number of times in the last few days. The result has been "pending". It does not matter whether I close Turbotax and reopen it, or I just leave it open, the result is the same.
I did try e-filing again on Monday, and it did not let me, saying something like "you don't have a return to e-file". Now I tried again, and it says e-filing is closed.
What emails did you get back? You should get 2. One confirming the transmission and a second one saying it was Accepted or Rejected.
I did not get the email confirming the transmission. The first email I got was confirming the charges for e-filing my state returns (I have two states, so I got charged two $25 charges, for $50). Then I got three emails telling me my returns were rejected, one for federal, the other two were for the two states.
The next day I also got one email reminding me of the situation. The trouble is I tried everything I can but there is no way for me to fix it.
I just tried to print my returns and mail them tomorrow, but Turbotax says "The following returns have been transmitted. Don't file returns by mail that have already been transmitted electronically."
