I haven't received confirmation from the IRS about my taxes

Hi.  I filed my taxes electronically via Turbo Tax on 2/11/21.  My returns were accepted by the Federal and State on 2/13/21 per Turbo Tax.  I never got an email confirmation of approval from the IRS (I have not received any communications from the IRS in fact).  As of 3/9/21, I have not received my federal income tax refund.  When I check the IRS “Where is My Refund” online tool, it tells me to verify that I have input the correct social security number, filing status, and refund amount.  Once I re-verify it, it asks when I filed my return and how (electronically) and when I submit that information, it tells me that there is “no information available.”

I have been calling the IRS for days and I’m always told that the lines are too busy and to call back the next day.  How does anyone resolve an issue such as mine?  I can’t get in touch with a real person and I have not gotten in correspondence from the IRS.  Who should I contact to resolve this matter?

Yes the IRS IRS Where's my refund page isn't updating a lot.  The Transmitted and then the Accepted emails are the only emails you get.  Once the IRS accepts it then Turbo Tax is done with their part.  The IRS does not send emails.  The IRS lookup is overwhelmed with returns and they are behind.

When you check the return status here, does it show accepted or rejected?

Once your tax return has been submitted, the most up to date information will come from the IRS. Until the IRS starts processing it on their own, you may not find record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated accordingly. Please see here  for more information on checking the status of an e-filed return.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status as it moves through the process here.

You don't get an email when it's approved.  And the IRS doesn't send emails.   Approved is a much later step.

The IRS does not email you with a status of the refund.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
