@2much Only the IRS would have that information, so you would need to reach out to them: How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?
You can also try the Taxpayer Advocate Service, which offers help with tax issues you cannot solve on your own.
Did you ever receive your money back… was it all since he want working?
I did eventually get my refund. His not working didn't matter. It's because he has past student loan debts that I am not responsible for. I file the injured spouse form with my 1040 every year now. Last year I received my refund in full about 3 weeks after I filed.
I would like to know if my injured spouse form has been accepted
It would be best to follow the instructions here to contact us by phone so we can better assist you. @Beepbeep0225
Did you have any luck? I'm in the same boat. :(
Did you ever receive it? I filed mine back in March and still haven't heard anything. They took all of our taxes other than like 500 (300 something after turbo tax took theirs) for things my wife owed before we were even an item. I don't know why it's taking so long.. they tax me immediately.
Did you ever hear anything? I filed my taxes and got my skimpy return in March. I filed the form in mid March and here it is almost June with no word of anything.
In 2020, it took about 16 weeks before I got the injured spouse money they held. Last year and this year I filed the form with my tax return and got my full refund in 7-8 weeks.
It took 16 weeks in 2020. In the last two years I filed the form along with my tax return and got everything in 7-8 weeks. I suggest going to your account and keeping an eye on your transcript. Any movement on your account will show up there.
I want to know of my form for injured spouse has been filed.
@Sherri141 You want to know if your injured spouse form has been filed? Well, how did you file it? Did you e-file it with your tax return? Or did you mail it later? If you mailed it, it is going to take a very long time. Mailed tax returns, etc. are taking 6-9 months to be processed by the IRS.
Thats a lie. I filed mine back in March and I haven't heard so much as a "screw you" in return. Its stupid how when you owe them money they're all over you, but when they owe you, it takes years to get paid. I'm about to just get me a job working under the table if they're going to keep doing me like this. I'm sick of being taxed to death. Everytime you make a little money the government has their greedy hands out. Where does the government help the middle class anyways? Nowhere i see. All they do is tax us to death and make us work until we're 70.
@Joshtraffanstedt Not sure what you are reading in this thread that you think is a lie. In an earlier post you stated that you received your income tax refund in March, and afterward you filed the injured spouse form. You must have mailed that form, since it could not be e-filed on its own. It is taking the IRS many months to process mailed returns and other documents that have been mailed to them. Many mailed returns have not even been opened months later, so, sorry, you must expect a wait for them to open your envelope and process your injured spouse form. Your injured spouse form has to be handled by a human; anything that you send in that requires human attention from the IRS will take much longer than normal, since they are severely backlogged.
Yep, it's a bunch of bull**bleep**. This year I didn't have the insane problems as last year. I filed the form with my return and I think I got the money in about 8 weeks. Usually it's always 4 months when there aren't issues. We will all continue to kill ourselves working 60+ hours a week to be lucky to retire at 70 and maybe have 10 years left to enjoy life.
