How can I tell if I even sent in my form to the correct IRS office? turbotax gave me one address, IRS site says another based on state. I'm in Illinois too
See below for the information as listed on the IRS website.
GOD BLESS YOU!!
Has anyone else been told by the taxpayer advocate that there is nothing they can do since the IRS has been shut down and it's just a waiting game and they'd keep you notified? Been waiting since Feb for my refund
Tax Advocate told me the same thing. I was waiting since Feb too. I ended up calling the IRS once or twice per day and asked to be connected to the IS department. I would then ask them directly what was going on with my refund. After doing this for the entire month of June, I got my refund mailed to me in mid July. Tax Advocate was useless. You have to be your own advocate and hound them for your money.
I gave up on calling IRS as anytime I called was waiting over 2 hours to no avail but haven't tried in a month or two. Will try again. Thanks
Ok all I have received updated information. In order to get to a live operator to check on status of injured spouse form you need to call main IRS line [phone number removed], after you select English selections, from main menu follow prompts 2, 1, 3, 2 and then I believe prompt 7. I was on hold for approximately 40 minutes. I sent in an injured spouse form after getting updated that our tax return was offset. The IRS received it 4/27/20 but due to COVID, the timeframe of 45 days started 8/1/20 so I still have another 45 days to hear weather or not it was accepted. For stimulus checks that were also offset you will not get any of those funds this year despite an injured spouse. That money can be claimed for return on your 2020 tax return. You will have to request a Recovery Rebate. This will also be the same if another round of stimulus checks go out. Hope that helps someone.
I only filed form 8379 and I didn't file taxes .I'm trying to find the status of my stimulus check. Please help.
I have not received my injured spouse refund and have attempted to call for months now with no one answering.
How do I find out when my injured spouse return will be sent to me
Hi! So I was in the same exact position you're in, my husband owes back support, he had no earned income, he and I have a child together, we filed a joint return and his ex got the whole return AND all 3 of our stimulus payments, over $4700!!! I have yet to receive any stimulus from the first round of payments but I did finally receive a partial tax refund in October accompanied by about $32 in interest. My refund was around $400 short and was said to have been sent to my husband (have no idea why), but he never received it?! I filed in February and included my injured spouse form with my return, however I had previously filed with the "Get My Payment" tool for stimulus not realizing I would have to file a 2019 return and from what I understand that was the problem! Hope this helps but moreso I hope you got your $
by now!
I hate this ....I finally got my taxes back in NOVEMBER; Expect it....Turbo tax would not allow me to file injured spouse ..so I sent my return electronically..then the Next day print out the form with a copy of my taxes ....bull**bleep**....
State of ohio got my money for my X child support....Which should not of happened if I was allowed the electronic form.....now I can't reach a human being to rectify this..same **bleep** different day!
print it out and mail it in from ies web site
I filed my taxes early and filed my injured spouse allocation immediately after. It’s been over 25 weeks now. They kept all my and my daughter income taxes due to my hubby’s back CS. ( Not my legal obligation) That’s 6 months now. Every thing tells me the same thing and one rep in June just told me to keep waiting. I’ve turned this over to my attorney. Unbelievable.
I mailed a completed form 8379 and can not get any information.
