Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Why should anyone pay more money for you to fix a service you messed up? People have had an unquestionable amount of trouble with your horrible service and you make them pay to speak to your under qualified representatives. I will never be using this service again and will discourage all from doing so. If you like losing money TurboTax is for you! Thank you again for all the wasted time, and once again to your next level customer service system. 0/10.

Info transferred from the prior year happens automatically when you start an online return in the same account.  If the info was changed after you filed last year then it was you that corrupted the archived return.  And as with all DIY projects you are ultimately required to review all entries in the return for accuracy and that includes the prior year info that was pulled thru.   Now if you used the Free program both this year and last then your return must have been simple so I can only guess that the state refund or the fed AGI would have been wrong.

Now if you believe the return is incorrect then you have 3 years to amend it.

Select a tax year for specific amending instructions.

Keep in mind: You have 3 years from the date you filed your return (or 2 years after you paid the tax due, whichever is later) to file an amended return, which means you don't have to get it done by the April 15 filing deadline.

Don't know what criteria you're using for representative qualifications, but seems like all are either Enrolled Agents or CPAs - which the IRS and Treasury Dept considers 'qualified'. However, users like yourself don't have to pass any screening to use TurboTax software for their SELF-PREPARED returns - which applies to All TurboTax returns, even when you pay Nothing to use. If you rented a saw from the hardware store, and cut your fingers off during your DIY project, it would be illogical to blame the saw or the store. TurboTax guarantees accuracy of Calculations based on Your inputs. Accuracy of inputs are Your responsibility.

If you have a specific, detailed, Tax question to ask - please do so, and perhaps someone posting here can help. If you just wanted to rant, and get a response - Mission Accomplished ...

To rant with this as an outlet was a pleasant and therapeutic mistake. The errors I've been receiving aren't because the data was input wrong. The data was input right and the error was when the transfer from my last year to this year. When I was on the phone with their expert they tried to tell me for 15 minutes to hit shift+enter at any page on their site to get to a control panel. I know nothing about taxes, however I know that that doesn't make any sense. After she repeated this to me over 10 times after me telling her that it doesn't make sense and she must have it confused for a specific page. At this point I'm more upset you need to pay for competent help than the fact that I'm fairly certain I'm dicked out of my refund by now. But hey if you wanna be useful and let me use your Help+ account.

Thank you much for the information. I'm very confused because surprisingly the only time I ever do anything with my taxes its just to do them so I don't know why I would have changed my birth date in the middle of the year, but hey we can put it down as an act of tax Jesus. So after fixing through this it's still definitely too late to do anything about getting this years tax return?

@BrendanMS We actually cannot tell for sure from your post what your problem is.  Was your 2018 return rejected when you tried to e-file it or did you e-file it with mistakes?  It is definitely NOT too late for you to get your 2018 federal or state tax refund.  We just need to understand the problem better so we can help.  Right now we do not know if you just need to file or if you need to amend an already filed and fully processed return.  Is the problem only with your federal return, or with both federal and state?

If you have e-filed your tax return and need to change, add or delete information on the tax return then you will need to wait for the tax return to either be accepted or rejected by the IRS.
If the tax return is rejected then you can make your changes and re-file the tax return.
