Sounds like you are confused about when you e-filed. The year of 2022 is in the future. What tax year are really asking about ---when and how did you file the return?
I filed on March 23, 2021 for my federal and state taxes. How can I track my taxes?
2021 for 2019 taxes
2021 for 2019 taxes and I e-filed them. TurboTax told me that they were sent.
@dondouglas13457 Your post is very short on details so we cannot tell what you did. A 2019 return could only be prepared correctly now by using downloaded 2019 software on a full PC or Mac and then it had to be printed, signed and mailed. Is that what you did? Or did you do something else?
Escuse me. I filed a return for 2020, not 2019.
@dondouglas13457 That's a relief----if you had used the online software for a 2019 return you would have a mess.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic. The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; they received millions of e-filed on the day they opened for 2020 returns, and now they are burdened with sending out another round of stimulus checks.
Some delays are resulting from incorrect amounts that folks entered for stimulus checks they received. Many people have been confused by the recovery rebate credit and completed it incorrectly. The IRS may delay your refund while they cross-check to see what you received. Some refunds are delayed because of the tax law changes that went into effect recently. If your return has unemployment or the premium tax credit on it, that may be delaying it.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I tried to use the tracking route but I could get nowhere. Linda
Does your account show that the return was accepted?

Sadly, the IRS refund site has been behaving erratically and has not always been reliable this year. TurboTax has no control over this and cannot find out anything about your refund for you.
I remember filing my tax forms on April 3, 2020. I just go a message that they were not filed. What can I do? I provided numbers for us and bank info on the return. Help!! Linda D.
Can you tell me if the IRS and the State of Michigan got the forms and that TurboTax sent them?
You can download a copy of your tax returns prepared last year and mail them in.
You can also use the link below to contact us. An agent will be able to verify if you electronically filed your 2019 tax returns for you and whether they were accepted or not.
Please be aware, hold times may be longer than normal due to the approaching filing deadline.
Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?
Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”
Note: If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself. TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.
