Once you already file your taxes can you upgrade on turbotax and have someone look over your return. This year my return is bigger than ever i want to make sure i didnt mess something up.

Sorry ... but once you have filed upgrading is not an option.  I would print off a copy of the 2018 & 2019 returns and compare them side by side to see what is different.   Post back here if you have questions.

Ok ... compare it to last year ... you had another child so that is an increase of $2000 in the CTC  and the withholding % should have also gone up due to the raise.  I bet if you check you can find the increase of refund between just those 2 items.

And look at your child-related credits on your Form 1040's

Look at your 2018 tax return to see the child-related /dependent credits you received:

    Child tax credit line 12a

Additional Child Tax Credit line 17b   (schedule 8812)

Credit for Other Dependents line 12a

Earned Income Credit (EIC) line 17a

Child and Dependent Care Credit line 12     (comes from Schedule 3 Form 2441)

Look at your 2019 Form 1040 to see the child-child-related credits you received

    Child Tax Credit line 13a

Credit for Other Dependents line 13a

    Earned Income Credit line 18a

Additional Child Tax Credit line 18b

Child and Dependent Care Credit line 18d

You had to enter the Form 1099-R that you received in the proper section of the software program.  Retirement and Annuity income is shown on your Form 1040 Line 4c with the taxable amount on Line 4d

Did you file your 2019 tax return and has it been accepted?  If so, then you will have to amend your tax return if the Form 1099-R was not entered correctly.

To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R -

    • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
    • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
    • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
    • On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button

Or enter 1099-r in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1099-R

My taxes were done wrong they didn’t put in my wages for 2019

    It depends.

I'm not sure who didn't put your wages in, but if you have another W-2 form with wages that were not reported on your tax return and you have already filed, you will need to filed an amended return.

See the following link for instructions on how to amend your return if you have already filed and your return was accepted.  Please note you will need to mail in your amended return.

    How to amend my return

If you have not filed your return yet, you can simply follow the steps below to enter your W-2.

Go to the Federal section of the program.

    1. Select Income & Expenses
    2. Select Job (W-2)
    3. Click Edit/Add to the right of the Job (W-2)
    4. The next page will have boxes that say "Add a W-2 for...Select the appropriate taxpayer and enter the information for each W-2.

Once a tax return has been filed it cannot be changed, canceled or retrieved

You will have to wait for the IRS to start accepting or rejecting 2020 tax returns on February 12, 2021
If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again.
If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2020 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/01/27577

Haven’t received my tax refund. It never take this long . Did I do something wrong

    @Luismills1

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.   Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.  The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; they received millions of e-filed on the day they opened for 2020 returns, and now they are burdened with sending out another round of stimulus checks.

Some delays are resulting from incorrect amounts that folks entered for stimulus checks they received.   Many people have been confused by the recovery rebate credit and completed it incorrectly.  The IRS may delay your refund while they cross-check to see what you received.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

    https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

    To track your state refund:

    https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.
