Apply ITIN for my wife. How long will it take ?

They received my papers on March 20 and I did not get any answer yet  I don’t know how long I have to wait and why my case is getting delayed

Hi today I spoke with the IRS again and they told me that after 12 weeks with no answer and no appears in the system I should consider apply again I told them that my IRS agent sent the application to the address Austin TX [removed] since it is a 1040 NR together with the W7  IRS don’t know if they fowarded to the ITIN  office or not and  I do not appear in the system

What happen if I sent the same documents again with a letter from the agent to the right ITIN OFFICE What happens if there are duplicity ?

Well for all those waiting for their ITIN, I will give my time line here 

I applied for ITIN for my wife on Feb 3rd, it was sent the same week (sent by HR block). I received my wife ITIN, 4 Months later on June 8th. (Issued in June 4th). 

I don't know what caused the delay. 

(I did call IRS around 10 days ago and they said "it's not In the system yet") I was going to file again in next few days if I hadn't received it but I am glad that I didn't. 

So all those waiting for ITIN, give it some time, around 5 to 6 months would be a good estimate. And if it doesn't arrive by then, you may consider reapplying.

Did your situation resolved? I am kind of similar situation.  I filed 2020 tax return along with ITINs for my spouse and child. The tax return is still being processed, but haven't received ITINs yet.

Yes- received ITIN after 5 months of applying. Refund was processed and sent before that

Hi they can’t process refund until you get the ITIN number If they are processing your refund is because you already have ITIN You should call them to ask

I mailed tax return along with itin application and have got itin on May 3. So far I cannot yet check the refund status, which always show incorrect information. I just wanna know if anyone has received the refund and how long it will take usually

If the ITIN was for the Primary taxpayer  the IRS WMR?  tool may never show any results for you.  All you can do is check once a week for a progress report.

I have mailed my wife ITIN application to IRS on March 08 2021. After 9 weeks ITIN has been generated and mailed to my address on May 11th .

But still I didn't receive my refund and IRS portal always shows an error "Information does not match. Please reenter your information". If I call IRS customer care , they says my records are not yet available on their computers.

Patience is the key. They probably haven't even opened your forms because of  overload they are dealing with. I am still waiting my spouse and child ITINs . It's been over 14 weeks. Fortunately, IRS is stating that my returns are "still processing". That is giving me a relief.

Processing mailed in returns can take much longer than the usual 8 weeks as in the past ... last year reports of 4 to 6 months was the norm so just be patient and check the IRS site once a week for a progress report.
