Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.
If you e-filed your return in January, it'll stay in Pending status until the IRS starts processing the backlog of returns.

My state return, which was prepared and filed using the TurboTax Deluxe 2020 software, still says pending. I filed both federal and state on 2/2/21. Federal was accepted on 2/11/21 and i already have received my refund. The state (NY) says it is still pending. When will this change?

I know how to check my NYS refund once it has been accepted. I used to work for NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. In prior years, my federal and state returns were accepted within a day of each other. Is there a way I can call someone at TurboTax to make sure that my return is not stuck in the system and that it is currently being transmitted to them? I know I had submitted both returns BEFORE the filing period opened up this year which I normally don't submit them until filing period has opened.

If you filed your federal and state returns at the same time, your state return may not start processing at the same time as your federal.
It's not unusual for state returns to remain in a pending status for several days after a federal return has been accepted.
