I'll assume the return was prepared in Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop software (CD/download) will not be in an online account.
I'll tell you below how to find the 2019 return. It will also show a status. If you efiled, it will show if it was accepted or rejected. If you didn't successfully complete the efiling process, or if you chose to file by printing it out and mailing, it will say "printed", "started", or "ready to mail."
This answer will tell you how normally to find the 2019 return, and if needed, how to regain access if there's a User ID/password problem. I've also left info on how to look for multiple accounts, if needed.
Log into the account used for the 2019 return, and go to the Tax Home. Scroll down the Tax Home page to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents." Expand that section and choose tax year 2019. Then you can choose to "Download/print the PDF".
If you do all that, but there's no evidence of prior returns in that section "Your Tax Returns & Documents", then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. Many people end up with multiple accounts.
You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes. A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be. It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.
To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below. When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it. After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.
NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop. Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below. You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session.
https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery
If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access, here's another method:
Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by SSN and other parameters.

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

To complete and file a 2019 tax return using TurboTax you would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the 2019 desktop editions from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
A 2019 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

I filed my 2019 taxes with Turbo tax online (self-employed) I paid your fee for having my taxes done. But I didnt get a chance to print my copy because I had no printer. But Turbo Tax did not send my tax papers in to IRS. .I know that I wasnt having a return back but I needed to owe Federal 762.00. Please check my 2019 taxes if turbo sent it in and can i have a copy of it or print my own copy now. I havent got any stimulus checks due to my 2019 taxes. Can you help me on my stimulus checks and my turbo tax papers thats already paid for so I know where I stand with that.
@ChungNakila Unless you e-filed your 2019 return or printed and mailed it yourself, the return was not filed at all. TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you. Only you can e-file or mail your return. Paying your fee does not file the return. You have to go all the way through the FILE section and click a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now" in order to e-file.
If your account for that 2019 return does not say that the return was accepted, then you did not file the return. The only way a 2019 return can be filed now is by mail. You have to print it, sign it in ink and mail it in. And if you did not pay your tax due then your interest and penalties have been adding up. The IRS will bill you for that amount after they receive your tax return and payment.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
As for your stimulus checks........The way to get the stimulus amounts now is to prepare and file a 2020 return and use the recovery rebate credit. The stimulus checks are based on your 2020 return now, not your 2019 return.
The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return. If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021
The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the FEDERAL REVIEW section. ( you should see "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount”) If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.
Make sure that you enter ALL of the stimulus money received for the 1st and 2nd stimulus for yourself, your spouse and your children.

Hi,
I have misplaced my 2018 and 2019 Turbo tax software due to packing up my home for sale in 2019 just before the pandemic and need to access it for a specific question on Line 32/ Form 1 for my tax preparer. The Returns had also been saved on my email at the time however, I had retired on January 3, 2020 and had turned in my School Department issued computer in December 2019.
Please assist me in retrieving a copy of these documents so I may submit my 2020 Returns.
Thank you, kindly
Lorraine Holmes-Spruell (Thompson)
How do I access a prior year return?
Before starting, make sure you're using the same TurboTax account (with the same username) as previous years.
If you don't already have access and you’re planning on filing with TurboTax this year, you can register or pay and go back to work on your taxes later.
To access by registering or paying:
If you haven't chosen yet, pick the product that is right for you (if you aren’t sure, select TurboTax Free Edition) when starting.
Follow the screens and provide some personal info.
When you've reached the Personal info summary screen, select Continue.
Select File in the left menu (this is just a step in order to register or pay, you won’t actually be filing).
Continue until you get to Review your order and select Start.
Select View payment options.
Register or pay for TurboTax, depending on which version you're using.
Go to Tax Home in the left menu.
Under Your tax returns & documents, go to Download/print return (PDF) (select Show if not visible).

This answer assumes your 2019 return was prepared in Online TurboTax. Any return prepared in desktop software will not be in an online account.

FAQ: How do I access my prior year return?
Log in to your Online TurboTax account and click on Documents tab in the left menu and then a dropdown list of years should appear. Choose the year, and then way off to the right of the screen, you should see a link to download the PDF. If that didn't work, here's another method:
Go to the Tax Home tab. Scroll down the Tax Home page to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents." Expand that section and choose the tax year you want. Then you can choose to "Download/print the PDF", or if you just need the 2019 AGI, then once you choose 2019 there should be a link to "View adjusted gross income (AGI.)"
