I filled form 8938 in turbotax online (and could enter all data after following the link from the help) but when I filed it did not include the form. What happended?

The form availability deadlines indicated by Intuit are completely unreliable. This impact's the organization's credibility and frankly after 14 years of using Turbotax, I'm really motivated to look for another option in the future. It is 2/25/2021 and form 8938 is still not ready. Neither is form 4852. Timelines keep slipping by weeks. Not days.

I’m about to bolt too. I used Turbotax Canada desktop for about the same, a dozen years. Great robust product. It’s my third year with Turbotax US and it is buggy and agreed needing updates. It should not take 2 months to convert a minor IRS form update to be e-file ready. Yes IRS was late this year but this was a well known thing. As an person who knows about project management, promising out and then slipping again and again on dates is not a good thing. 

In contrast, Canadian team is super good at fixing bugs via updates. Never had an issue that a product was not e-fileable when tax season opened.

I would like to echo the comments of others on here. This is completely unacceptable and a serious failing on the part of TurboTax. I will ensure that this issue is well publicized via my social media accounts.

It is clear when the form was approved by the IRS, and fact that it is still not available is frankly embarrassing.

The form 8938 still shows that it should be available today. If the form is not available by the end of the day, the form's availability should be updated. You can check the availability by clicking here.

@BrandiLO the website has udpated the 8938 is available (no longer says 2/25/21).  However, using TurboTax Desktop (Windows), no update downloaded when I triggered one (still had most recent software version).  This is as of 9 PM EST.  When is your push to production cycle?  You must have this scheduled/known by support staff.

@Anonymous Have you tried the "Jump to" link or you are still unable to E-file do to this form? The IRS form availability is showing:

 I did try on the Online version and form 8938 did come up. Please see the screenshots below. If it still doesn't work I would suggest waiting and trying again tomorrow.

I filled Form 8938 in Turbo Tax online  Delux Subscription on 2/27/2021. However after e-filing I do not see Form 8938 in downloaded version of tax return pdf. Can someone suggest how do i see this form in my tax return?

When you are trying to get a copy of your return you filed this year, make sure you are selecting to print all forms. If you did indeed file Form 8938, it would show and print out with the copy of your return.

• Update Friday February 26: TT (downloaded in Windows) finally updated during the day on Feb 26 and 8938 is ready to file.

Same here, took until 2/26 to update even though triggered update many times on 2/25. 

Let’s hope those who are waiting for their other forms in the March releases get them!

Problem Statement here is with Online version Form 8938 is not even getting attached with Federal return. Turbo Tax support is extremely pathetic. They don't seems to have any clue what is going on and neither able to provide and timeline to fix issue.  

If anyone else was able to solve the problem i stated above then please guide

Hi all, it still appears that Form 8938 is not working in the web version as of March 9, 2021. 

Searching for Form 8938 (using the instructions here) allows me to fill out the questionnaire , however when I go to check the return in the print view there is no Form 8938 included. Further, when I go back to check the form in the Turbotax questionnaire, none of the information I have filled out is saved.

According to the availability list here Form 8938 is available, however it appears that it has not been implemented and filing your return will not include this form. 

Can Turbotax please let us know when this will be fixed?

It depends. According to this link from IRS.gov., "if the market value of their foreign financial assets is greater than $100,000 on the last day of the year or greater than $150,000 at any time during the year." If your situation falls within these parameters, here is how you will access your 8938 in Turbo Tax Online.

1. After logging into Turbo Tax and begin working on your return
2. Go to the search box with the magnifying glass and type in 8938.
3. Select the enter key and then select the link that says jump to 8938.
4. Here is where you would start entering information that will complete your 8938 form in Turbo Tax
