Okay I have the same issue as everybody else I was accepted my federal and state on the 21st, it's still in process from the iris of course and it only opened up on the 24th for them to do so. However I have called all three places Credit Karma TurboTax Intuit emailed I get a run around I'm really tired of it taking up a lot of time and it's ridiculous that I paid $250 for basically nothing when nobody knows a thing and basically makes me feel like an idiot. I qualify for a refund advance and that's what I selected to do so when I filed on the 10th of January I open the Credit Karma debit account I received my card activated it so I have that in check my refund was accepted and it is more than $500 and what other other qualifications in general I know I mean. It says specifically once your refund is accepted meaning accepted by TurboTax I would think cuz it would be processed if it was that to be the official word for a refund Advance it says accepted 48 hours it would take then for your refund advance to be in your account so where are the advances? This is absolutely horrible you know that we are obviously good for the money so why on Earth would you advertise false information and give everybody the hopes that they're going to be able to get a refund Advance hoping to pay off in need that bills whatever for me it's I need major repairs on my car and that's a big thing to me cuz it's me and my eleven-year-old daughter nobody can give any kind of answers and I'm tired of the runaround. I replied to this comment because I saw you mention about that somebody you knew they'd get their advance??? So you do actually know somebody that got an advance then from TurboTax already? I'm not anybody to ever complain really at takes a lot for me to do so but this is absolute ridiculous I'm not cussing but I'm sure everybody knows what I mean any update please let me know thank you so much and good luck to everybody
Yeap TurboTax is the worst service I've ever used. Then charged me 199 to get help with a question from one of their tax advisers. Who by the way didn't even help me I googled the answer and fixed my own taxes. Won't be going to them next year. O and moral of the story I'm assuming no one writing in the feedback got the refund advance. I didn't either. Y'all gotta do better TurboTax. Now thanks to them who knows when I'll even see my refund and not only that no money for the refund advance. To help me out for now.
Oh no there's actually a bunch of people that I've read now that got the refund advance and that's why I'm so upset right now at first when I'm reading the feed there was nobody and then all of a sudden there's all these people that are saying all the sudden showed up in their account yay what happened to H what the hell was the use of using this service for nothing I could have done it for free on freetaxusa.com which I use last year never again and nobody cares that TurboTax they claim no responsibility now and it's the irs's decision when they want to release the funds know if you're going to give an advance and you're going to advertise an advanced it's going to be once it's accepted as in your wording a million times over. Thanks TurboTax
I keep reading people saying TurboTax has blamed the IRS but they have nothing to do with this issue. It involves TurboTax, Credit Karma, and First Century Bank. Based on the size of your tax return and the fact that it is accepted by the IRS, First Century Bank essentially gives a good faith loan to you and it is sent to the Credit Karma Spend card which is the only way to get the advance. So I'm not sure which of those 3 companies made the mistake or if 2 or even all 3 are part of the problem, but I am fairly certain the IRS has nothing to do with it. As happy as I am for the people who have gotten their advance, it seems that all of them did not apply until the 24th or later and most of them seemed to be complaining when an hour or two had gone by when the website clearly says only 41% get it in the first hour and 99% get it the first day. So really those people had no reason to complain at all and were just impatient. What I have seemed to notice, and maybe I am wrong, please correct me if you know otherwise, is that the people who have not received their advance are all people who applied and were accepted by the IRS prior to the 24th. Being that EVERYTHING I have read at multiple news outlets said the IRS would not be accepting returns until the 24th but actually started on the 21st, I am pretty sure that is the issue at hand. Even that I am uncertain of being the issue though because TurboTax is the one who initially notified me on the 21st that my return was accepted. At this point I am all out of ideas of things to try and I'm just going to wait, I've just been dealing with this issue as long as anybody else so I figured I would share what I know since when I first started trying to find answers there were none. Good Luck Everybody
Have you received your advance yet? I am wondering because you applied the same day as me. Also curious because you said thankyou to an answer stating you can't get the advance if you select credit karma card but it is my understanding that is the only way to get the advance. Getting the advance sent to another bank is not an option from what I have read. So I am just curious as to how things have worked out for you.
I filed on the 25th and returns accepted same day and TT, CK and the bank have no record of my advance. So frustrating as like us all paid and now have a CK account I have no need for. I am I'm a FB group for taxe refund/stimulus I've been in since last year when TT screwed up the stimulus checks and so many people have gotten the advance ( filed pre 24th and after) it has to be a glitch. I called all 3 companies multiple times and they have no record of my advance. Ugh.
That is interesting. My theory until reading this was that anyone who applied and had their return accepted before the 24th, the date the IRS has stated that they would start accepting returns, were the ones having the issue. You stated that your sister in law applied the 23rd. Was she also accepted the 23rd? Have you received your advance yet?
Yep I was when trying on the website but then the app worked...
That solution seems to only be for people who were having an issue filing their return. Is there a solution for all of us that filed with no problem but still have no advance and no emails about it?
Hmm, maybe I was to and just missed it, but I don't know how I would have missed that. Also when calling the bank that's giving the loan the automated system told me I was not approved for the full advance (which I was not expecting because of the size of my return) but I was approved for a smaller advance. However, it did not give me an amount which I thought was odd.
@2girlsnme3046 Like with anything else involving credit decisions, pre-approval is not a guarantee of approval. However, since it is a requirement to have your full refund deposited to the Credit Karma account in order to even apply for the advance, I would think they should either have to 100% accept or deny your application prior to having you agree to send your return to Credit Karma, and only once APPROVED for the advance, have you open the account and agree to have your funds sent there. If denied it should state the denial right away and then give you the option to have your funds sent to whatever bank you choose. Since the motivation for the majority of people to open the Credit Karma account and have their refund sent there is solely based on receiving the advance, what they did to you was absolute B.S. and if I was you I would also be very upset. I have not been denied, or at least not that I know of, but I have been waiting over 7 full days now and have not even received an email and I am far from the only person with that story. I'm guessing it's easily thousands or even tens of thousands of people who have had similar issues which is why I am reaching out to an attorney in the morning to find out if this ridiculous situation meets the criteria for a class action lawsuit. Since I have received letters (and joined) class action lawsuits about things as silly as a company calling me when they were not supposed to, I am going to guess that what TurboTax has done to all of us would certainly meet the criteria, especially since they stand to make tons of money off of everyone that they essentially screwed over. Normally class action lawyers are able to track down those involved and I would think TurboTax would have to provide everyone's information, but just Incase keep checking back for a post from me about the class action if your interested in joining
@kar-johnson what do you mean by offset? What offset?
@NikkiW41 I've had no problem finding the account that was created by credit karma. The issue, and the issue that everyone else seems to be having is not locating the account the funds went to, but the fact that the funds had not been sent to the account. Unless maybe I am misunderstanding your post and you found a second account created at credit karma? Also, did you ever receive an email from Credit Karma, TurboTax, or First Century Bank stating that you were approved for an advance or that the advance was deposited? I understand your money has arrived so your issue is over, but a response might help the rest of us figure out where our money is. I'd sure appreciate any tips on how to get or done my advance and I'm sure everyone else would as well. Thanks
@Redx73 what is the name of the Facebook group because I am planning to contact a lawyer about a class action lawsuits against TurboTax, Credit Karma, and First Century Bank. Being that this is the second MAJOR screw up in as many years by this company causing I couldn't even begin to guess how many people hardships, I think a class action is necessary to force them to take responsibility for their screw ups. Who knows, this and the stimulus problem both could have been intentionally done in order to make money off of customers stimulus checks and/or tax returns by holding it in their account for several days or longer and collecting interest or doing whatever else it is banks do with customers money to make money. Even if it was not intentional, which I think would also be criminal, they need to be held accountable for their mistakes just like everyone else. The fact that they have screwed up causing countless customers to wait on much needed funds, and during a pandemic where many Americans are hurting financially I might as, makes me even more certain that a class action is in order. With that said, I plan to post on this forum when I have more information but I would also like to post in the Facebook group as well so if you could provide a link to it I would appreciate it.
