No you cannot start preparing your 2022 tax return here yet. The software for a 2022 return will not become available until sometime in November. You do not say what software was used to prepare your 2021 return. When TurboTax for 2022 becomes available you may be able to transfer your 2021 tax file in the 2022 return, depending on what software you used, and whether you have the tax file. If you only have a pdf of the 2021 return then very little data transfers from a pdf.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply - it looks like I'll need to wait until November. My taxes were done by an accounting firm so I just have a .pdf of the info they submitted.

What little can be transferred from a PDF file is not even worth the effort ... just enter your name/address/kids in yourself.
Now what you can do is buy a 2021 downloaded program (just use Deluxe ... Basic if you don't need a state return) and enter all the 2021 info in now and when it looks just like the return the CPA did save it and use that .tax2021 file to transfer into the 2022 program.

since so little info is transferred from a pdf, you might be better off starting from scratch. you are responsible for determining that any info imported from the pdf is correct.
