Make sure you are also deleting the 2020 Disaster form not the 8915F-T form. When you delete the 2020 Disaster form it will delete the 8915F-T form.
This actually worked! I got rejected three times then tried this and it worked!
what form number is this? I am not seeing it listed on my forms and I am having this same issue and can't fix it as of yet. Thanks
On-line here and having the issue with "coronavirus" listed in section B which throws an error.
ok - this method works for online users also. Need to delete the worksheet and 8915 however, which I initally didn't know how to do.
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, go to FORMS and Open Form 8915 Worksheet. Delete 'Coronvirus' from under Line 18, Fema Disaster name (screenshot below).
If you're using TurboTax Online, Delete Disaster Worksheet (screenshot below). Close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies and step through the the 1099-R interview and following Disaster questions again. Leave disaster type blank
I just went through the exact same issue.
I got the Federal form 8915F to report properly and it should have carried over to my Iowa state form 1040, but it didn't. Now I can't get the amount in my Iowa form to report it as income. I turn 55 this year so the retirement amount is excluded on another line, but I can't put that in either. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I can confirm this worked for me!
Turbo Tax has now received the 8915-F forms, but the IRS has now rejected my federal return 4 times in two days. The change from 8915-E to F now has a box C and box D. If you are in year 3 of a coronavirus distribution, as I am, you will need to check box D. However, when doing this, you must also leave box C blank...but you cannot do that on Turbo Tax...it auto populates the word coronavirus, causing a conflict error on the IRS' side when receiving it.
I phoned for help tonight and had a Turbo Tax rep literally delete my 8915-F form in an attempt to circumvent the system...another futile attempt, and to boot, I now cannot find my 8915-F form anywhere...really has to be a better way.
This is what I used to fix my Federal. State doesn't populate and you can't override it.
Please try these steps to fix the rejection issue:
Another option is to delete "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then go back to the retirement section and reenter the information:
I was told the same thing today. File by mail since they screw up my from last year. I wonder if other tax companies are having the same issue? HR block?
This information saved my sanity! Thank you end-users! I have been so frustrated and sick over this! TurboTax needs to offer this fix up front with a how to! I work in software development and this is not acceptable!
Even when Turbotax finally got it “ready” it is screwed up. My return was rejected because they put the word “Coronavirus” on line C and it is painfully clear that there should be nothing there if the distribution was Covid related. So we wait until Mar 9 and now delayed another week. What a joke. It’s English. It isn’t even lawyer talk.
I did this and still see bo area to mark a box with a letter. It only has 2021 lines with numbers. Is there a different area you accessed it in or looked at it .
