Question

Your transmission didn't go through - software update

I was going to transmit federal and state returns, I received a message stating "Validation failed", then proceeded to tell me that there is an update available for my program. I checked for updates and it said I am up to date. It then tells me that I can print the return and mail it, however I paid $80 for the program, and another $20 for the state form, I shouldn't have to print and mail my return. Help!

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I hope someone will answer this questions.

I have the same problem, when wanting to efile Federal, CA and NY taxes.  I tried the uninstall and reinstall Turbotax route to no avail.  Then I discovered 2 steps, one was what I call force update

    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/updating/help/why-does-turbotax-for-mac-keep-saying-there-are-updates-when-i-check-for-updates/00/26298

Which did find an update, that otherwise wasn't being identified when starting TT. This update didn't seeme to cure the issue so it could well be red herring.

The other step I discovered was to efile federal and then state, once federal has been accepted.

    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/e-file/help/how-do-i-e-file-my-state-after-i-already-filed-my-federal/00/26811two

So I went down this path and managed to efile the federal, then some 15 minutes later managed to efile the California state.  However when it came to NY I get the error "Your transmission didn't go through". So clearly the issue is with NY efiling and Turbotax.  I wonder if its the fact that NY doesn't allow tax preparation software companies  to charge twice, once for buying the tax preparation software and then charging a fee to efile has anything to do with the poor transmission.  I wonder if the same problem exists with other states where they aren't allowed to charge too.

Me too. I even did an update on my MacBook and tried again and no luck.

This is disgusting.  I have been using Turbotax on a MacBook Pro for years with no problems.  I even bought a new MacBook Pro last year because I received a message from Intuit that my old one wouldn't work for the 2019 package.  Now I have spent a lot of money and Intuit tells me to mail it to the IRS.  They could fix this problem if they wanted to.

The same thing happened to me today.  I'm using Mac OS 10.15.2, and my TurboTax is already updated.

    Support team:  Please respond ASAP.

    Thanks.

Same here on Windows e-filing for Mass.  Used the MA link on this page, which also has a separate link for NY, and was able to transmit files once installed...

I have the same problem, too, with TurboTax Home & Business for Mac. Application version is 2019.r14.032

I was able to get a refund from Amazon (where I purchased TurboTax), and I'm trying out TaxAct now: https://www.taxact.com/

I'm having the same transmission problem as everyone else. The state where I live  (New York) requires that I e-file. I sure hope Intuit can figure this out quickly.

I was hitting this when e-filing for Mass. on a windows box.  Found this page which has separate links for a NY and a Mass. fix.  Once installed, no more loop and forms submitted successfully...

I just spoke with a customer service rep. This problem only occurred within the last few days. Turbo Tax is aware of the issue and is fixing it. You can request to be notified when there is a resolution to the issue. Click on the three dots beside this conversation and subscribe to the feed.

So no one from Intuit has responded to this thread despite apparently knowing about the issue? And they removed the customer service phone number from your post? I guess they just don't value their customers at all.

I had the same thing happen and went to the support site.  It seems that a couple of my NYS forms are not ready yet.  When I switched to just filing my federal return, it went through.  I just have to wait for New York to get with it since they require e-filing.

Thanks kehand52. Had the same problem, then sent only my federal and not New York State as you suggested and it went thru.

BTW, did you find what the problem was with your state filing? I never checked mine in detail, but from your response it sounds like it's a state issue that you're waiting for them to fix?
