"There is an update available for your version of TurboTax" loop when e-filing (Windows)

When attempting to e-file a return in the TurboTax for Windows CD/Download software, this message appears:

There is an update available for your version of TurboTax. Before you can file electronically, you’ll need to get this update. To do this, go to the Online menu and select Check for Updates.

However, after updating, the same message continues to reappear, resulting in an endless loop.

We have identified an issue with the New York State update. We have created a manual update installer for New York that will resolve the issue.

  1. Close TurboTax and all other programs except this browser window.
  2. Click here to download the NY Manual Update.
  3. Save the update file to your Windows desktop.
  4. Double-click the update file ny_AnyTo19.... on your desktop to install the manual update.

We have identified an issue with the Massachusetts State update. We have created a manual update installer for Massachusetts that will resolve the issue.

  1. Close TurboTax and all other programs except this browser window.
  2. Click here to download the MA Manual Update.
  3. Save the update file to your Windows desktop.
  4. Double-click the update file ma_AnyTo19.... on your desktop to install the manual update.
