Will Turbo Tax pay any fines I might get from the IRS since Turbo Tax failed to withdraw the tax due payment from my bank account as agreed upon?

I received a letter stating that I did not file my return for 2018.  I did through a tax preparer who used Turbo Tax.

No.  TurboTax does not ever know  how, when or even if you paid your tax due.  It is not up to TurboTax to monitor whether you pay your tax.  Actually is it up to you.  If you had tax due you are supposed to pay attention to whether the payment comes out of your bank or credit account.

And what is this baloney about using a tax preparer who used TurboTax?  Paid preparers cannot use TurboTax--if they do, they are in violation of the terms of service.  TurboTax software is for a self-prepared return--not for use by people who get paid.

Sounds like your problem is with your "preparer" --- so explore that one yourself.  If your 2018 return was flat out not prepared or filed, then you can still prepare and file it yourself by using 2018 software:

Online preparation and e-filing for 2016, 2017 and 2018 is permanently closed.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2016, 2017, or 2018 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

If your return rejected you were suppose to fix it and resend it.  Or  maybe you were suppose to print and mail it to the IRS?  Better find out what happened with your original 2018 return.

Turbotax is software to assist with self-preparation.  You are responsible for following through.

Turbotax can't be used by paid preparers, its a violation of both the Turbotax license and IRS regulations.

If your return was never submitted, or was rejected and you never found out so you could fix the problem and re-submit, you should talk to the preparer you paid to submit your return.
