I bought the disc for 2021 as I have for years. When I tried to install it on my desktop it did nothing at all, Why?
KT714 - Hmmm! I don’t know. But could be a hardware problem with your computer or disc drive. I suggest you follow the Download instructions, using the license code included with the disc. Note, even if you are able to load software from the disc, you will need to download the updates. Good luck.
@KT714 Use the download method instead of the CD. It has more advantages over CD. Then you can also download it another computer.
There should be a card in the CD case on on the CD envelope that says how to download it and you will need the 14 or 16 digit code from it to enter.
How to download Turbo Tax instead of using the CD
And see this. How to install with a License Code

Yes and it's much worse than online. This software feels like a joke.
I believe it’s part of Intuit’s plan - make the purchased software difficult to use, so the customers will be forced to migrate to the on-line version, which costs more.
Gee, I think most of us that answer here in the forum find the Desktop installed program is easier and much better to use. It has a lot more features and advantages over the Online web version. Why do you think it is more difficult to use? I haven't found any changes from prior years except for needing the new license code to activate it. I'm using the Home & Business version on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

I agree with @VolvoGirl the desktop software is much more robust and user friendly versus the online editions. I have used the Premier desktop edition for decades with no issues. Currently installed on a Windows 10 and a Windows 11 computer.
Thanks for keeping me honest. I may have responded with some bias and sarcasm, as I am annoyed by Intuit’s continual attempts to up-sell - to buy the next level of software, to use their on-line version, to purchase their audit protection, etc.
I also wish Intuit would monitor these forums and provide feedback, support and actively improve their product, based on the customers’ challenges, complaints and suggestions.
@BillM2 Thank you for your feedback. Constructive feedback like what you've provided helps us to build a stronger product and stronger community. If you would like to provide any additional feedback please visit the Help Article below for information on how to contact TurboTax.
I can't determine if the CD/On line license code was paid for the 2021 tax year.
I don't have a computer that has CD available, but could not get information on my login account to find out information on 2021.
I started inputting data, but think it is in the Turbo Tax On Line after not finding a License Code, but do not like the format compared to all of the other years I have input data, where running tax situation and questions were much more user friendly.
Willing to start over if there is a way to use the License code input method.

@GordonThompson313 If you purchased the 2021 TurboTax software the license code is entered during the installation processes on your personal computer.
If you have not purchased the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions then go to this TurboTax to purchase one of the editions as a download - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
Lol thanks I did figure that out. TurboTax turned their desktop product into garbage and gave me a terrible two days trying to figure it out.
Turbotax lost me as a customer forever. Thanks intuit. For making my decision easier than ever to stop using their services.
Poor prompt placement, strange structure of forms. Terrible imports, etc, laggy as hell on a robust computer and fiber optic connection.
But that was my experience. I've used online for four years previously and it always went without a single hitch.
I already did my taxes using an online turbo tax and I do have a license code which it will not accept.....do I have to do my taxes all over again! Please help me.
@ikce9823 You cannot pay for online software using the license code. What happened? Did you purchase the CD/download and then use online by accident?
If you are using online, you are using the wrong program. You need to switch to the desktop software to get what you paid for. You have to download it, update it and open it up from your own hard drive to use it.
