im so mad im trying to do my taxes but it keep rejecting me and my grandma claim me I did not permission to let her do that im trying to get my taxes but i cant
Can i do my taxtes still
@MEGGIE09 As answered above (and repeated below): Yes you can still file a tax return. You just can't e-file. You will have to mail in a paper return.

At this point, you have two choices:
1. Don't claim yourself (check the box on form 1040 that says somebody can claim you) and you can e-file.
2. File a mail-in paper return. The IRS will send you your refund and sort it out later. See below, for details.
As others have suggested, the 2nd issue here, is do you really qualify to claim yourself. Your grandmother does not need your permission to claim you. She only needs to meet the rules.
See full rules at: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/tax-tips/Family/Rules-for-Claiming-a-Dependent-on-Your-Tax-Ret...
A 3rd issue is what are you trying to get by claiming yourself. With the tax law change, effective 2018, most 18 y.o. will get the same refund whether they claim themselves or not. The personal exemption has been eliminated and the standard deduction increased.
If it's the stimulus money, you're after. That can wait til next year. The paper filing will delay it several months anyway. In essence, the stimulus check acts as an advance of your 2020 income tax refund. This means when you prepare your 2020 income tax return, next year, there will be a line to claim it, if you didn't get it in this year.

If someone else claimed you, as a dependent, inappropriately, and if they file first, your return will be rejected if e-filed. You would then need to file a return on paper, claiming yourself, if appropriate. The IRS will process your return and send you your refund, in the normal time. Shortly (up to a year) thereafter, you’ll receive a letter from the IRS, stating that your exemption was claimed on another return. It will tell you that if you made a mistake to file an amended return and if you didn't make a mistake to do nothing. The other party will get the same letter you did. If one of you doesn't file an amended return, unclaiming the exemption, the next letter, from the IRS, will require you to provide proof. Be sure to reply in a timely manner.
Winner gets the tax benefits; loser gets to pay the IRS back with penalties and interest.
i think kerri perkett from MN claimed me on her taxes and she should not of, i live in upstate ny im on social security im 68 years old when i didnt get the stimulus check i was told she had claimed me now what i dont file taxes
Some claim me as a dependent I revive SSD no one take care of in no one have the right to claim
I just moved back from Florida in August and my parents decided to claim me on taxes although I have not lived at there house for 6 months during 2019. In doing so I lost out on stimulus check and I have 2 kids. I told them they couldn’t do it and they found a tax lady who forged numbers to make them get more. Is their a way to make them payback what they get so I qualify? Someone said file paper 2020 return how do I do that? Does that mean I will still get my stimulus but get it next year? What about the second stimulus if they approve it will I get it then? I know it’s sad but I almost want to report the tax lady and parents so I can have money. I have disabilities and didn’t live here for 6 months so from what I heard them claiming me is illegal. Can someone please help? I need my stimulus check they got back $$ for me and lied and said they didn’t get back nothing for me. Well then why the hell would you claim
me?
To claim yourself you will need to print and mail a 2019 tax return. You cannot e-file if your parents used your social security number to claim you as a dependent, because the IRS will reject any e-filed tax return if a SSN has been claimed as a dependent on another tax return.
You may not receive your stimulus payment until you file your 2020 tax return in 2021. But, filing a correct 2019 tax return is the first step in establishing your eligibility for a stimulus payment for you and your dependent children.
Before you file to claim yourself as dependent, you should check the rules under which your parents could claim you as a dependent. For example, you don't need to live with them at all if you made less than $4,200 and they provided more than half your support.
Table 5 from IRS Publication 501 is a good overview of what it takes to claim a dependent.
Q. Someone said file paper 2020 return. Does that mean I will still get my stimulus but get it next year?
A. Yes. But, you'll have to wail until early 2021 to do so. "In essence, the stimulus check acts as an advance of your 2020 income tax refund. This means when you prepare your 2020 income tax return, there will be a line to include the section 6428 credit. The credit on your 2020 return is subtracted by any amount received as a stimulus check in 2020. If the amount you received as a stimulus check is less than the credit you are due, the difference will be included as part of your 2020 refund. If you have been overpaid by receiving the stimulus check, however, you will not be required to return any excess amount".
"I told them they couldn’t do it" (claim you as a dependent).
If they meet the rules, for claiming you, they don't need your permission.
" I have not lived at their house for 6 months during 2019".
There are two types of dependents, "Qualifying Children"(QC) and standard ("Qualifying Relative" [QR] in IRS parlance even though they don't have to actually be related). There is no income limit for a QC but there is an age limit, student status, a relationship test and residence test. Only a QC qualifies a taxpayer for the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit. The 6 month rule applies to QC. You may still be their QR, if your TAXABLE income is under $4200 (SSI and SSDI are not income for this test).

"They got back $$ for me and lied and said they didn’t get back nothing for me".
The most they can get for claiming you, as a QR, is $500.
"I have 2 kids".
Who claimed them? That's usually the big $ issue. If you do not have earned income, you get nothing for claiming them.
I need help
You will need to prepare your return as if you are not claimed by someone else, but an independent. You will need to print and mail your return into the IRS and your state. The IRS will look at your return and that of the person who claimed you. They will ask you for more information so they can determine who is correct. Once they have made a determination, they will adjust the returns as necessary.
What do I do my sister claimed me and was not suppose to at all it stopped me getting a check
She does not need your permission to claim you, if you qualify as her dependent under the tax rules.
As several answers posted above note, you cannot "do" anything about it except for you to print and mail your own return (assuming that you want to file as independent and are eligible to do so). Even if you do that, there's no guarantee that you will get a stimulus check this year. We have not heard how the IRS will treat this situation for stimulus, but timing alone, will delay it for months.
Under the CARES Act, if you are claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return you cannot receive a stimulus check, in 2020. If you were claimed as a dependent for 2019, but will not be for 2020, you will most likely get it in 2021.
In regards to the stimulus payment, when you file your 2020 income tax return, you will be asked for information about the amount of the stimulus payment you received, and if it is less than you are entitled to, you will be given a credit on your 2020 tax return.

READ the answers provided in this thread. There is nothing you can "fix".
Start by double-checking your Social Security number in TurboTax. If it's wrong, correct it and then resubmit your return. If you entered it correctly then...
Next check to see if you accidentally filed yourself by mistake earlier:
Check Your E-File Status on this Secure TurboTax website
https://turbotax.intuit.com/efile/efile_status_lookup.jsp
- It will show the date you transmitted your return and if it was accepted or rejected.
- Both your Federal and State will be listed separately if you filed both.
- It will tell you when you E-filed
- The electronic filing date
Then if it wasn't you:
Then it's likely that another taxpayer, inadvertently or otherwise, filed their return using your Social Security number.
You won't be able to fix this rejection; you'll need to file a paper return and attach a copy of the IRS form 14039 http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f14039.pdf
You "may" be the victim of tax-related identity theft. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for information on how to proceed:
