By the time the non-intuitive work arounds were posted I had already filed my taxes.  Bottom line: TT took away a valuable tool.  As various members pointed out even the customer service people were not able to provide clear or consistent ways to reinstate the running total.  Even though work around options later appeared they were not easy to find and too late for many of us.

@CatinaT1 thanks but I am asking how to view the running total, not the total after I am completely finished entering my detail. I see that TT has removed this from their customers. Not sure who benefits from the "For accuracy and simplicity" statement, but it's not the customer. Thanks

You don't have to enter in all your information. If you select review from the menu on the left side you click through the initial questions and it will show you where you're at. Not a great solution but it does work.

Even when I click on review, my running refund amount does not show.  What does show is a request for payment. THEN, MAYBE it will show.  I still don't know.

I will also stop using this program as well, due to this change. How am I expected to do my taxes and understand the facts of the data I'm entering.  Isn't this the whole point of doing taxes either you owe or due a refund but it will be a mistery for now until you pay TT.

I'm having the same issue, this is lame. Looks like they are trying to trap people into purchasing prior to seeing the numbers. It's shady and deceptive. I'm checking out https://www.freetaxusa.com/

After going back through it for the 3rd time on a different PC, it did calculate my numbers and now shows it on the top. Definitely a little buggy.

I am having the same issue and it is very frustrating.  The projected return was one of my favorite features.

MISSING REFUND MONITOR

Sorry—-the “running” refund monitor that used to change as you entered data is gone.  You have to get all of your income, etc. entered into the software in order to see the results.

The other place for you to look for your federal refund or federal tax due is on your Form 1040

Federal refund will be on line 35a

Federal tax due (that needs to be paid by April 15) will be on line 37
