In previous years, Turbotax showed the refund (or owed) amount while my doing my taxes. Specifically, this is the $$$ figure, located at the top of the screen, that changed in real-time as you entered in various tax forms. Is this a feature that can be enabled?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you are using the TurboTax online editions, click on Review on the left side of the online program screen. The refund meters will then be shown.
Click "Review"to make that refund monitor appear.
Depends on where you are in the process:
1) Sometimes you just have to turn off RaceTrac mode. (if that's what is showing).
2) Sometimes there is a "carat" to click < or > or ▲ or ▼ up in that display bar.
3) Sometimes jumping over to the Federal "Review" will get it to display, then you jump/navigate back to the area you really need to work on.

Yeah, those user interface programming folks aren't really helping anyone with some of the extra junk they seem to "think" we want.

None of these suggestions work. nothing I do brings it back - please stop adding stupid things like the racetrack mode that only add frustration to an already frustrating process and don't remove one of the few useful things you have in your UI!!!!
MISSING REFUND MONITOR
I watched this number every single step of the way in previous years. I found that there was no way for me to see my current $$$ status this year unless I went into "review" and clicked thru it. Way to go Intuit! Removed a super useful tool!
I guess many of us will be looking for
alternatives that lessen the calculating STRESS !!
I'm using Turbo Premium & Turbo assist person could not
find any review button.
It is broken or eliminated.
Looking for other "customer happy-makers" programs.
DH
REVIEW does not exist on Premium Version.
Find it yet...it's there, or maybe too obvious?
Here's a shot from my current (fake/Test) tax file on a Premium account.
Make sure you are inside your tax return first.

I tried review and it still didnt work
It's not too obvious so snarky comments don't help. It doesn't show on mine either. This is so unhelpful and one of the only reasons I use this product,
MISSING REFUND MONITOR
Sorry—-the “running” refund monitor that used to change as you entered data is gone. You have to get all of your income, etc. entered into the software in order to see the results.
The other place for you to look for your federal refund or federal tax due is on your Form 1040
Federal refund will be on line 35a
Federal tax due (that needs to be paid by April 15) will be on line 37
PREVIEW 1040

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
So does nothing change when you hit the carat ( > ) next to the "Explain" right where the refund monitor used to be?
