What if my sister claimed me as a dependent for the beginning of the year till I was able to get a job and since I have federal withholdings taken out of each check and my gross for the year was only 10,000 but I was able to file my taxes and should be receiving my withholdings back will I still be able to get the stimulus check since I was able to file my taxes and stated that I was claimed as a dependent on another tax return but I will be receiving a small tax refund because of my withholdings
I’m 24 years old. My dad claimed me this year on taxes. Will I get a stimulus check still?
im so confused because ive been reading if you make over $5000 for the year your parents cannot claim you. Last year in 2019 I turned 23 and made over $7000 for the year and I filed taxes but I listed that I can be claimed because my mom claimed me. Im not a college student and paid more than half the bills. Am I really not getting a stimulus check? Even though I meet all the requirements? I feel as though they should follow their own rules and stop listing me as a dependent when im of age and make more than the required amount.
My brother was claimed on my taxes in 2018 I just got back my stimulus check in it was only for me 1200 but I still have yet to file 2019 taxes if he files a simple return mind you hes 22 years old he would still get his stimulus check since I didn't file my 2019 taxes right
If someone is eligible to be a dependent, regardless of whether they were actually claimed or not, they are not eligible.
@CatinaT1 will I need to amend if I accidentally put that someone else can claims me when actually no one claimed me ( was a mistake)? I already filed for 2019 and received my refund through pre-paid card. I am 25 years old and made almost 30k in 2019.
Yes, you will need to amend.
So basically because hes under the age of 24 he can't get a stimulus check no matter what
Now what if I win I head and filed my 2019 taxes and he wasn't claimed as a dependent which is what I was going to do anyways and then he filled out the non filers form on the Iris arrest would he still qualify or is it because hes under the age of 24 that no matter what he wouldn't get it
So I am 24 and a college student. I have lived on my own since March 2018. My dad claimed me on their taxes in 2018 but not 2019. I filed taxes both years. Would I a qualify for the stimulus check as of right now?
If you filed a 2019 tax return and you did not say that you could be claimed as a dependent, and you have a Social Security number, and you earn under $98,000 (single) or 198,000 (married) and you were not claimed as a dependent on another's tax return, then you should qualify for the stimulus payment.
I'm 37 old recieving ssdi monthly disabled. But my dad claim me on his taxs 2019. Can I receive some money ??
You will receive a stimulus check if you:
But be prepared to check the IRS information by using the new Get My Payment application.
The IRS will soon be establishing a Get My Payment application to allow you to:
So I am 20 years old... my mother claimed me on her taxes in 2018 but she DID NOT claim me in 2019 because she did not file ; however, I did mark that she could. I have been living on my own and going to college for 2 years... will I get a check?
If you marked that you can be claimed as a dependent of someone else, you will not get a check. You will need to file an amended return just to uncheck that box. To file an amendment.
