Some issue with an entry in Smart Check

I'm going through the PERSONAL | Smart Check now. TurboTax flagged something in a form called Sch SE-T (?) (I've never heard of it, so I'm at a loss as to what to do here.)

TurboTax is saying that line 18 must be entered in form Sch SE-T. It has that form opened in the TurboTax interview. (Technically, it's a view showing the form open the line 18, within the interview.) Currently line 18 is blank. Looking at the instructions for lines 18 through 20, it says, "If line 4c is zero, skip lines 18 through 20, enter 0 on line 21".

I've scrolled up to lines 2 through 4c. Line 2 and 3 are both 223.  Line 4a has 206. Line 4c has 206. Should I enter 223 (I think, might be 206, but I think it's suposed to be 223) into line 18?

Some issue with an entry in Smart Check

You must be self employed - To get past this screen so you can file your taxes, you need to update Schedule SE-T.

The process: delete Sch SE-T, take a quick run through of the self-employment to recalculate Sch SE-T, and then turn off the Max Deferral.

To do this in TurboTax, follow these steps:

First, delete Sch SE-T that applies by following these steps:

  1. From the left menu, select Tax Tools.

  2. Select Tools.

  3. Scroll to Delete a Form.

  4. Scroll to Sch SE-T, select Delete, confirm the deletion.

Next, to replace Sch SE-T, return to the self-employment income & expenses interview in the Income & Expenses section and select Edit/Add.

  1. Select Edit for your business.

  2. Scroll down to Done so that the Sch SE is recalculated.

  3. Finish any other questions in the self-employment interview and click Continue.

Lastly, revisit the section for the Self-employment tax deferral entry:

  1. Return to the Deductions & Credits section.

  2. Scroll to Tax relief related to COVID-19 and Show More.

  3. Select Self-employment tax deferral and select Revisit.

  4. Answer Yes at the next screen to get back to Let's start by getting your eligible income.

    1. If you do not want to defer any self-employment income, "Enter your eligible self-employment income" should be blank.

      1. Select Continue.

    2. At Tell us how much you'd like to defer, "Enter amount" should be blank.

      1. Select Continue.

  5. Scroll down and select Wrap up Tax Breaks and Continue.

  6. Run through the Federal Review again.

Some issue with an entry in Smart Check

Hello @CatinaT1 thank you for your response,

I'm working now, so can't get into TurboTax to perform the steps you've outlined. So, I'm going on memory. I'm not sure about the part of your instructions where you start with "Lastly, revisit the section for the Self-employment tax deferral entry..." At the moment I don't remember doing this. Perhaps I did, stress on the job is extremely high today so I might just be forgetting it. But is going through that Deductions & Credits section necessary?

Some issue with an entry in Smart Check

Hello @CatinaT1 my workday is over, so I can focus on this.

I'm having problems with your instructions. To delete Sch SE-T you wrote:

"From the left menu, select Tax Tools
Select Tools

Scroll to Delete a Form

Scroll to Sch SE-T, select Delete, confirm the deletion"

I don't have a left menu. Perhaps you were referring to the MacOS version? I'm using the Windows version. The menu bar has the following, reading from left to right:

File    Edit   View   Tools   Online   Help

I clicked on the Tools menu option, but there is no "Delete a Form" there. When I have the Tools menu option open I see the following:

My Tax Data

Final Review

Topic lists

Attachments

Calculator

Tax Summary   Ctrl+T

Tax History       Ctrl+H

Order History

Sorry, it isn't where you're saying it should be. Either that or perhaps it is named something different?
