Box 5 and box 7, can't make any entry
This was a suggestion by our awesome Tax Champ @DoninGA and was successful.
See if this will help:
I am having the same problem. The program does not accept ANY amount in Box 5, even though the "Social Security benefits" box is selected
I can't seem to access the forms in order to input Social Security on either the forms or step-by-step interview
Thanks. This is the fix
I had the same problem ... could not enter SS. I realized that I had received 2 SSA forms because my benefit changed when I turned 70. So I needed to add the amounts on the 2 forms together and enter the total amount manually into the form section.
I can not input my Social Security Benefits. Program is frozen. Please help me, This is very Frustrating.
Either close the program and restart it - then try to enter your SS income. Or if you are using the Online software, close your browser window and re-open it in a different tab or try to sign in using a different browser. @galka1
I have tried everything to input our SSA-1099 and also my mother's. It will not accept input. Help!
same issue
The portion to enter Social Security will not open
Sounds like this is another case of TurboTax's horrible delay problems entering data on certain screens.
The form to enter W-2 fields stalled on entry of each field value for me, to the tune of 5-10 seconds. This makes the program nearly unusable; I almost threw it out. A dozen or so people in forum discussions confirmed the exact problem I saw and a workaround emerged: Edit the form fields directly in the Forms view. This got me past the problem, but should not be necessary in a program of TurboTax's spread and maturity. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
HOW DO I ENTER THIS INFORMATION?
Try the following steps if you are using TurboTax CD/Download version. This has been successful for others.
In the upper right corner of the TT application window, look for Forms (next to Flags & Notifications). Click that; you will see a view of the form that backs the step-by-step screen for Soc. Sec. (Make sure you're on that screen before entering the forms view.) Then you can add/change fields directly in the form.
