When will Form 3800 General Business Credit Area of Turbotax Business be available?

Got pushed back again, this is the 4th time anyone know if another tax service has the form 3800 ready to file. HR block, 1040.COM, anybody else, I've never had to wait to file taxes.

Deadline for K-1 distribution is March 15th. At this point the delay in form 3800 is unacceptable and unjustifiable. It does shows that supporting this product is not a priority for Intuit.

I will be asking for a refund and moving to something else.

When will Form 3800 General Business Credit Area of Turbotax Business be available?

I finished my tax return the first weekend of February and I have been waiting since then for forms to be updated. They've all been updated except the general business tax credit form, which, as others have pointed out, has been promised then delayed several times now. And now we are looking forward to getting it on March 6th, presuming that Turbo Tax doesn't delay again for no specified reason. This is indeed a giant hassle and completely unacceptable. TurboTax owes compensation to me and everyone else inconvenienced by this. How can I get a partial refund for all the miscellaneous services and products that I have paid for in order to file my taxes using TurboTax?

If I ask for a refund, do I lose all of the work that I've done using the software and also lose the ability to use it to file if and when the tax forms are ever ready?

When will Form 3800 General Business Credit Area of Turbotax Business be available?

Once again, as has become the disappointing annual tradition, TurboTax users find themselves in a vexing predicament due to the inexcusable delay of Form 3800. This recurrent issue not only undermines the trust we place in TurboTax for our tax preparation needs but also places undue stress and potential financial burden on your loyal customer base.

For years, TurboTax has been the go-to solution for millions seeking to navigate the complex labyrinth of tax filing. Your platform has promised ease, efficiency, and reliability. Yet, the repeated delays in the release of critical forms, especially Form 3800, starkly contrast these assurances. It is baffling and frankly unacceptable that a company of your stature and expertise, fully aware of the tax calendar and its importance to your users, fails year after year to prepare for these deadlines in a timely manner.

The impact of these delays is far-reaching. They not only inconvenience users but potentially jeopardize our financial well-being by risking late filing, missed opportunities for tax credits, and the accruing of interest and penalties. This negligence demonstrates a lack of respect for the financial and emotional well-being of your customers, who rely on your software to fulfill their legal and financial responsibilities.

Furthermore, the lack of communication and transparency regarding these delays adds insult to injury. Customers are left in the dark, scrambling for updates, and forced to adjust their schedules and financial planning last minute. The absence of a clear explanation or apology from TurboTax is indicative of a deeper issue within the company's approach to customer service and accountability.

We demand immediate action to rectify the current delay with Form 3800 and a comprehensive review of your processes to ensure this situation does not recur. This should include, but not be limited to, earlier development cycles for forms, better communication with customers about potential delays, and transparent timelines for form availability.

TurboTax must remember that at the heart of its service are individuals and families whose financial health and peace of mind are affected by these delays. It is not merely a matter of inconvenience but a significant breach of trust and reliability that has been entrusted to you by your users.

In conclusion, we, your users, expect and deserve better. We urge TurboTax to take immediate steps to address this issue and to implement measures that prevent future delays. Failure to do so will not only tarnish your reputation but also compel many to seek alternative solutions that respect their time, finances, and trust.

I had been filing my taxe with credit karma for the last couple of years because they didn't charge anything extra for the schedule C. But this is the first year they partnered with turbotax. Well I won't be back next year. I checked to see if 1040.com has the form ready to efile and they said they did. I used them in the past with no issues on the schedule C. So I am going to have to do this whole thing over again with another service and I suggest every who can do the same. Turbotax obviously doesn't need your business.

It looks like because of this form delay I will lose my 2/29 early filing discount. Anyone know if we can request the discount because of this form delay?

If you have already paid the TurboTax online account fees, the price increase on 03/01 will not affect you.

I believe this form is needed for claiming credit for foreign taxes paid on dividends. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong please?

reply:

I think it's the other way around. The result of your foreign tax credit form is fed into Form 3800, and I believe in effect limits the amount of general business credit you can take. I'm just a neophyte at this, but that's what I think I learned studying my 2022 taxes which were completed by a CPA.

The real vexing and pathetic part of this is that I DO NOT take any general business credits.  The form has never been part of my 1120S filing,. BUT I am blocked from filing regardless.

Why can't it just ask and skip?

The online tool now shows 3/6/2024... seems like for weeks the estimated ready date for form 3800 has just gotten later and later.  Other tools do seem to have this available so it's clearly not an issue with the IRS, it's TurboTax.  In the TurboTax online tool, I was told my forms were all ready to submit and fully reviewed, then I was charged all service fees only to THEN find out that TurboTax was not ready to actually submit this form.  What a pain.  If the form isn't ready, please tell the customer before telling them otherwise and collection money from us.  Now I either have to wait for god knows how long, weeks at a minimum, or I have to beg for a refund and re-type all my information into another tool.  Both options are super annoying and could have been avoided if TurboTax was just honest from the start.

I've been in the same boat as all of you since January 28th.

The form keeps being pushed back.

We were told 2/16 then 2/28 and now its being stated 3/6 is the "new" deadline.

IRS says the forms are avialable. H&R block and other tax preparation software is having zero issues with this.

We don't even NEED this form yet we can't move past and e-file without it, per TurboTax live people.

I was tired of waiting for TT too, I finally re-did my whole tax return with 1040.com. I had no issues and my return was accepted within the hour.
