Guys, finally had someone over the phone help me out.
Go to Tools, Delete a form, you need to delete Form 8911 FIRST, then delete form 3800.
Now I'm able to file.
Hope this helps! 🙂
What if we have a schedule c business
If you need the form then I dunno.
But I don't have a business and for some reason it was forcing me to wait for the form. Deleting the other form is what got it going for me and was able to file.
Mine now says March 6th and it’ll be ready for e-file. These date push backs are really messing with me…
For those of us who need Form 3800, we should be using this forum to discuss/vote on alternatives to TT for 2024 and beyond. I'd like to switch. I think TT has become to successful for it's own good. And not having Form 3800 ready for more than a month after the Federal Government settled the form and instructions for the form is inexcusable. So, who has experience with other tax software, for the non-professional, that includes Form 3800? Not sure the criteria besides that. I suppose being able to import TT would be nice, but having to re-enter personal information and carry forwards is not really too big of a deal. Oh, I thought of one requirement - the ability to import the consolidated 1099 form we get from the big financial houses (Schwab, Vanguard, etc.). That is quite the work saver.
So, ideas for alternatives?
So far I've seen mentioned H&R Block, and 1040.com. I have no experience with either.
I don't even have Form 8911 in my taxes to delete :(
Guess I'm still stuck waiting until March 6th to see if it'll be pushed back for an extension.
I got off the phone with Turbo Tax, the representative said it’s not TT who keeps pushing it back, it’s the IRS. That specific form hasn’t been finalized and it won’t be until the IRS says so, and TT is critically accurate with all forms related to deductions and credits.
That's interesting because IRS says the form is ready on their website, my CPA friends also says they have had no issues with this form, and H&R Block is showing the form is available - which is why we are all contemplating switching companies. I've been with TurboTax for over a decade and have never had any issues like this before. Now hundreds of companies are being held up by TurboTax over a form, most of us don't even need.
Yeah, that is interesting, because as above says the Form and the Instructions are available on the IRS website with no disclaimers or warnings. Until TT issues an official Intuit statement with dates about when and what, the blame lies squarely on them. I'll just wait it out, and probably actually file my taxes while on the road RV'ing. Because I'm leaving on that 6 week trip in a matter of days.
I tried again today, 2/28, as it was the "new" deadline (before March 6th was brought up)
The form issue is no longer there, it lets me bypass the credit section entirely, BUT, I still cannot e-file
As you witnessed, there is some progress. TurboTax is working to correct this issue as soon as possible. Please come back to e-file after March 6, 2024
Mine is still saying FORM 3800 not available until 3/6/2024
Is March 6th for sure the "fix all" date or are we all going to have to file extensions?
I really don't want to push back my business return, let alone my personal return.
I found Form 3800 on turbotax business but I can only manually fill out part of it. All other parts including part 1 and 2 cannot be entered.
Any update from turbotax on this? I am concerned of the 3/6 date, can someone confirm it's going to be ready.
