What is this error “Form N-11: Interest Expense calculation updates have not been completed. Check back after January 19” ?

@buddyamber thanks for the update.   Really there is NO WAY to accurately efile the Hawaii state tax at this time.  Which is the source of everyone's frustrations.  It seems like an easy bug to fix as all the other tax programs are working.  It seems Hawaii residents are not priority to Turbo Tax.

What @Kealii  said was true about returning your TurboTax at Costco. . They accepted the return with no questions asked.  Aloha Oe TurboTax.

@Jay Allen ; even though I put zero on the error page it still reported the correct amount on line 21c and I was able to efile. It’s just a bug in the program. Good luck

@RQUIAMZON ; when I put 0 in line 21c on the error page. I was able to efile. When I printed my form N11 for my records it had all the right calculations.

@TurboTax it is now 3 weeks past January 19 with no resolution nor explanation as to why I cannot e-file my Hawaii return.  You've already taken my payment so you've got me in bind.  To top it all off, the way your system works, by not being able to e-file my Hawaii return, I also can't e-file my Federal return.  Excellent excellent product.

when you efile, you can just choose to file federal only. you don't have to pick to file the state yet. it will go thru with just the federal. I have done this for several clients already.

Tried this multiple times. Doesn’t work.

Also spoke with TurboTax rep who was totally unaware, was sure it was because Hawaii wasn’t accepting returns yet. Let her know HR Block works fine, and she said that’s because they accept returns but hold them until Hawaii accepts. I laughed. The called Maui tax office and they said it’s TurboTax software. Such fun!

@Mowieboy.. yeah Turbo tax is BS.. I filed electronically file a return that didn't involve any interest expense. and it was later accepted by Hawaii State taxation.  all done thru Turbo tax while paying them the fee to file the state.

This must be fixed ASAP .  If one is expecting a refund to offset Federal taxes owed, this is not something that can wait.

• I was able to efile my state return with interest expense.  Seems like the bug has been fixed.
