If they can legally claim you as a dependent for 2019 then they will receive the check based on the last filing. So In my family we will place the $500 dollars into each dependents account. Your 2020 living situation will be filed next year. Remember you can also file this year for 2019 based on your income but you will need to answer yes when asked if someone can claim you as a dependent. Please talk with your parents, and plan ahead.
If they can claim you on the 2019 tax return, you will not receive a stimulus check even though they do not actually claim. However, if they do not qualify to claim you on their 2020 tax return, which will be done next year, you might still receive one.
Note that, if your parents qualify to claim you, but do not actually claim on the return, you are not eligible for the stimulus.

I was under the impression that my parents still claim me as a dependent. On my tax return I put that I could be claimed, however I found out my parents do not claim me. I am a college student but financial support myself and live outside of my parent’s home. I am 21. So even though my parents didn’t claim me I’m not eligible? And if I tried to amend it saying I couldn’t be claimed, it still wouldn’t matter?
my father claimed my daughter and I...will I still get a check
So if I filed as single for 2019 (aka this most current tax filing season) but made 0 dollars, and my grandmother claimed me as a dependent in 2018(the year prior) and has not yet filed her own 2019 taxes (this current years) I will still get my stimulus check due to how I filed this years (2019taxes)?
nobody plans to claim me as a dependent on this current tax season, but my grandmother did the previous year and has not yet filed her newest tax return. Do I qualify as long as I entered my own 2019 tax form?
I filed that i could be claimed as a dependent in 2019 but didn’t get claimed as one, also im 19 and not a full time student, would I receive the stimulus check?
Most likely not soon. You would have to amend your return and then wait for a stimulus check. It will take the IRS a number of months probably to process an amended return as they have shut down a number of offices due to the virus. The stimulus checks will be available for all of 2020.
How to amend a return you already filed?
So I’m 22 and I DO NOT qualify as a dependent, but when doing taxes ... I marked that I could be claimed. I ended up not being claimed by anyone. Do I not get the stimulus check because I marked that I can be claimed, though that’s not true?
As of now, if you do not qualify as a dependent but you marked that someone can claim you on their return, you will need to amend your tax return. You would qualify for the stimulus payment after your return has been amended and processed.
so tell me this .. is it worth me amending my return or just file in next year on my 2020 return.
That's up to you. Either is fine.
If I amend, once everything is fine .. will they send it ? If not, I rather just wait. It’s all so confusing. Sorry for the questions.
It’s not giving me an option to edit that part of my form.
Did you click to amend your return? If not you wouldn't be able to edit.
My mom claimed me as well, hopefully I get a stimulus check I sure need it. Best of luck to you and hope you get yours. Let me know if you do.
