W-2 Box 14 Input Issues During Review

@LindaS5247 do you have any other options? I cannot efile until this error gets fixed. The system will not allow me to note it as the other - not classified drop down option and it does not like the description of pretax that is on my W2. I know it is for pretax health benefits so none of other other drop downs would work, especially the one that mentions pensions.

I am getting same issue. It will not allow you to move forward. The error message is:

Box 14 Identification: - NYS does not allow the description selected for the NY public employee retirement contribution code (ERS, NYRET, RET, NYSERS). To e-file successfully you must choose either "NY IRC 414H Subject to NY tax' or "NY IRC 414H NY tax exempt' from the picklsit. 

I am not even a public employee. It is also for Health Insurance

I am having the exact same problem. This box 14 has always been tricky in TurboTax (ie. what category do you pick?). I was previously told, last year, to pick ¨Other." Now it keeps kicking back and instructing to choose a NY State 414H category when I am not a public employee. This is a TurboTax error and they need to fix it!!!!!

Please someone help us - I ran into this problem last week as well, Box 14 efile my W-2 working in NY for a private company, not a pension. Glad I found some friends on here with the same issue before going to my company's HR. Please fix this bug!

Was on with TT for an hour plus. The fix is changing the descriptions my employer entered on my W2. Instead of PRETAXFSA change to just FSA. And so on.  The “other” drop down description was then accepted. I gave them an earful about this glitch and they wound up really helping in the end.

The Issue with the error at the review has to do with how the description in the first box of box 14 comes into the program.  Normally it is an imported W2, and comes in as all caps. 

The resolution is to change the word, in this case "PRETAX" to something shorter and not in caps such as ""Medical"" (it is sometimes the medical deduction), or FSA, etc.  Do this in each box that is erroring out and it will clear the error and allow you to move on.

This worked! I changed mine to Health as all mine was related to health insurance and was able to efile! Thank you

I changed the description from PRETAX to PRE TAX with a space to bypass the error.

This issue is SO FRUSTRATING. I spent an hour on the phone with a turbo tax expert and we couldn't figure it out. 

Then, another poster here (twentycents, thank you so much) answered the question: put a space in the "Description" and it will work. So instead of 'PRETAXETRAC,' my description is 'PRE TAX ETRAC' and instead of 'PRETAXDENTMED' my description is 'PRE TAX DENTMED' and it worked. 

Turbo Tax really needs to fix this incredibly irritating glitch. I don't know why this year was so different than years past, but it was so much more confusing. Don't know if I'll come back to Turbo again.
