TurboTax 2024 Install/activation technical issue

Thank you for the link to a phone number where I could speak with someone.

I called and spoke with a technical advisor who was very helpful.  Unfortunately, they do not have a solution and he consulted with other tech's while we were on the line and no one seems to know what causes this issue.  But he did say plenty of others seem to be having the same issue.  He said the one other person that he helped on this issue was able to resolve it by installing it on a different computer, but that's not an opyion that I have.  He said the best advice he could provide is to purchase an install disc for $10 and he thinks that should work and he provided me the link to purchase the disc.  The link for that purchase disc is as follows for anyone else that may need to do this:

I filled out the data needed and am purchasing the disc, so will see how that works out once I receive the disc in a few weeks.  The tech indicated that if that does not work out then I should call back and they should be able to refund the $10 disc purchase amount.

Frustrating, but hopefully works in the end and hopefully Intuit can figure this issue out internally.

I'm having exactly the same issue as you, Jeff.  I'm surprised that Intuit doesn't send you a disk for free as it is their problem to solve.  I'll be calling them in the morning.

I’ve resolved my install activation problem. 
after many different approaches, this finally worked. No thanks to the TurboTax developers. This was a pain to figure out. 

load the TurboTax software.

go here and do a manual update.

after the update completes, go here and update C++.  Try updating all three files for the latest, 2022, versions.

The address should be https://*.intuit.com and not https:*.intuit.com for it to be accepted in the Control Panel Internet permissions.

Thanks CoolWhipl!!!  This worked for me also.  I had a version of C++ from Visual Studio that was updated in 10/2024 but it didn't work.  Once I installed the latest version of C++ and installed the TurboTax update, I was able to get TurboTax to the registration prompt and complete registration.  Thanks again.

Thank you so much for your posted solution! It worked for me, also. Doing the update of TurboTax was not enough by itself, but after I updated the C++ versions for both x86 and 64-bit, TurboTax worked as expected.

@CoolWhipl Thank you, thank you, thank you. I cannot express enough the thanks to the community for ALWAYS doing what the Intuit Support can't. It's ridiculous, I just purchased via Intuit's online store today, Apr 12, and this bug/issue is still not fixed! First they totally bork QuickBooks, now TurboTax. Intuit - get your act together, or some other competitor WILL step in and start stripping your customer base at this rate.

I’m also concerned that if TT can’t resolve this problem, then with all of what is going on in the stock market 5his year, will the program TurboTax be able to keep up with the changes to be accurate.

I doubt Intuit gives a crap or that anyone in the giant corporation is going to take action because enough people post their problem BUT I'm chiming in also.  I had the exact same issue (download and install, nothing happens, click on desktop icon, get message that "we've hit a snag activating your product").  Went through all the Intuit troubleshooting.  Went through the update steps described in this thread.  Completed the manual update.  Two of the three updates worked for me. My processor is apparently not compatible with the AMD update.  All of that to say, no solution for me. I suppose I'll be going the online route for the first time in 15 years as a TT user. Who knows if I can get my money back for the Costco online purchase.

I never did get my TurboTax working on my Windows 10 Pro machine after trying all the hints people posted on here as well as after spending hours on the phone with TurboTax help staff.  I had to use the online TurboTax version, very annoying and less capable. For example, you can't just open up a specific IRS form and update it.  Costco did return my purchase no problem.

Very dissatisfied with TurboTax this year.
