Such a disaster! I wonder if ANYONE will try to use TT next year! Not me, I’m done after 20 years of using the program.
horrible and when i chatted with an expert she was horrible. me: did you change your platform from 2024? expert: no me: i am no longer being walked through last year's categories and asked to import from last year. i was asked to upload a 1099 r income. expert: i can help. let me transfer you to an accountant. me: NOOOO
boom, the screen changed to a enter your credit card info and a $5 charge for ????? charging for chat with an accountant b/c your platform changed from last year and the "expert" didn't even know? I am definitely switching platforms to a free government platform if i am going to have to reenter all of the info on the forms. Hate the new platform. i am not going to pay for it. better to start anew on a free tax prep. i already know what info to enter. or ill enter everything for practice and then not pay to file. and to think i spent 3 hours clearing data and reentering everything thinking it was me not the software. it doesn't matter if it is online or desktop. the platform has changed and it is not user friendly. maybe they want to channel everyone into expert help??? make more money ???
I just don't see how TT could screw up a good product in just one year.
We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses.
Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab:
Yes, I do see something different. My view is as described by the original commentor. I see page after page of boxes with the words "dividends", or interest, or other categories listed by originating company, even if I asked to see only interest. If I click on each individual box, I get details but as I have multiple accounts at one brokerage, that's pretty useless. I see multiple boxes with the title of that brokerage but no numbers or identifying information such as account number, so it is almost impossible to tell which accounts I may have missed and which have transferred over correctly. According to the TT expert I spoke with, there is no way on the desktop version to view all interest or dividends on a single page, or in a table, even in the "forms" mode (until review is underway). It's really impossible to use. Some of the titles on the boxes are empty. Some of the contents of the boxes are empty. And one really just absolutely has to be able to see all the "interest" or "dividends" listed on a single page.
Kesha, I do hope that you aren't suggesting that all the reports in this thread would be ignored because they weren't submitted as feedback through the channels you've suggested.
This thread should be sent to TurboTax development/management at a high level. If only 10% of people complain in a forum like this, you can bet that you have MANY unhappy users.
IMO, we should all get a coupon for next year's TurboTax.
Thanks for listening.
It is impossible to reconcile records with TT using this new interface. It's impossible for me to believe there is no summary section showing all interest or dividends, etc, but I paid to have an expert confirm that indeed, there is no way to view a summary of entered data.
The "expert" I paid to talk to informed me that it will be very difficult to pull records from the desktop version into the online version. So to switch, you would need to "talk to the TT IT guys and give them your records to upload" or start from scratch. If true, I agree, it's time to try the alternatives. I never wanted the hassle but sounds like we may be forced into starting over anyway.
It is shocking. Can only imagine they are planning to discontinue desktop but their "expert" told me it will be extremely difficult to transfer files from the desktop version to the online version.
Here's some info on How do I switch from TurboTax CD/Download to TurboTax Online?
You can view all your interest entries in FORMS mode, on the Interest and Ordinary Dividends Worksheet.
Literally guaranteed they are ignored...how many millions of users use TT?
I did leave feedback within OSX Desktop app about how absolutely braindead it was to "enhance" the 1099 handling for the use-case where you might have one brokerage and very few transactions within it
@MarilynG1 totally misunderstanding the issue in this thread...haha
And boy, do I hope you didn't just leak someone's name and SS on the Intuit forums...if so, please delete ASAP
@KeshaH what a lazy and literally terrible response - why can't you file an internal Product enhancement ticket with Intuit Product Managers to register a large issue (which was self-inflicted) with the latest software? Stop forcing your customers to do your work
Yes, I also spent a couple of hours starting over, searching, deleting imports, etc. It took a long time to dawn on me that there truly is no way to view a summary page anymore, or view interest separate from dividends, etc.
I am adding a comment to emphasize the importance of this issue. I agree with all of the negative comments but hope the more comments the more attention I hope the issue will receive. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 25 years, and this is the only time I have been disappointed with the newest version. I'm not sure what the point of the additional graphic screen is but it certainly has not improved my user experience. I do returns for myself and family members. We have different use cases, including interest, dividends and investment activity. The new GUI has made every return more difficult and confusing.
I carry forward the previous year data into the current year then import a variety of w2, bank and brokerage data. In every case the imported data ignored the carry forward entry and created a new record. I then had to use the "new, improved GUI" to delete the duplicate 0 value entries.
Eventually, I seem to find myself at a familiar interface and can review and edit in a familiar way. I'm not sure how I get there and frequently find myself returned to the new GUI despite doing my best to avoid it.
Making it pretty or more like the online version does not make it more useful. Do yourself and your users a favor and remove the new GUI. It serves no purpose, adds no value and is only interfering with the products functionality.
