TT 2022 Home and Business will not import previous year's return

Doesn't work for me either.  No schedule info, no prior year tax info. The only thing that imported was name and address.  First time in 25 years this hasn't worked.  Obviously they haven't fixed the issue.  Must have laid off that staff so no one knows how to fix the links.

Hi, Did you ever get any resolution to this problem?  I am in same situation, had hard drive crash, had files backed up and restored them but Turbotax 2022 Home and Business will not import.  20 years of using Turbotax and now having to input hours and hours of data. Very frustrating! 

on another note, you can go back into your digital account with Amazon and reload prior years TurboTax software at no cost. Just input original code. I've tried that way too, but sadly doesn't help.

Unfortunately no resolution.  I was able to download the 2021 program and no joy there either.  I had to start all over again!

I was able to get it to work by installing 2021 taxes on my new laptop. I opened my 2021 taxes in 2021 turbotax saved off the .2021tax file. I then opened the 2022 taxes and the transfer completed.  It would not complete without the 2021 taxes on the same computer as 2022.

I'm sorry for both of us.  You would think since Turbo Tax can read their competitors PDF files they would figure out a way to read their own.

Using any file will not import the home and business form from 2021.  PDF or TT format file.  I am STILL having to hand enter all the assets, prior year depreciations & losses.  The only thing it is importing is my name address and marital status. 

The import option is the main reason I use TT in the first place.

When are you putting a patch in place to correct this?

I think this may be that Windows set all your PDF's to open with MicroSoft Edge go in to your computer and set Adobe to be your default to open PDF's

Unfortunately not the case.  You probably missed my notation in my first post in this chain.  On my computer,  PDF files are associated with Adobe Acrobat.  All of the PDFs I have created with Turbotax (after filling is complete) open perfectly in Adobe Acrobat.  The issue is that last year's PDF -- created in the exact same way as all the others -- opens in Adobe Acrobat without any problem but cannot be imported into Turbotax 2022.

I have exactly the same issue. Although TT clearly states that it supports (.tax2021 & .pdf), it fails to load my 2021 tax return pdf file. This is the big bug of the TurboTax, or if not, that is cheating customers. Most time I only save .pdf file for reference.

When importing from a PDF, the TurboTax program will only import your personal information (as shown under the My Info tab) and your AGI. That's pretty much it, and that's the way it's been since import from PDF was implemented several years ago. There was the "claim" that future versions would import more. But that has yet to come to fruition.

Transferring from a pdf file is limited.  And you can't transfer from a 1040SR pdf.  You should try to Transfer from the .tax2021 file.  Here's a couple links to explain more.....

Good luck . I cannot even access the software support and and I am having problems with not being able to input information. I suggest you bite the bulle and manually input your data. the support version of this program is not very helpful or supportive.

Did you ever figure out how to get the PDF file open in Turbo Tax. It is not compatible to transfer. I you do please post how here Thanks
