I purchased a TurboTax license for a gift. How do I transfer that license to another TurboTax member? It has never been installed on any computer. The download has it's own license key. I want it to be in their TurboTax account, not mine. TURBOTAX DESKTOP PREMIER TAX YEAR 2023 WIN
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can simply provide the license number to the person who will use the product but note that they will need an Intuit account for login purposes.
I don't know about that. Did you buy it directly from Turbo Tax? They might need to log into your account to download it. If you need to call in....

I will attempt to call them. It was absolutely purchase from TurboTax or Intuit so it should not be too hard of a process.
I have a similar question. My husband and I have separate intuit accounts. I installed 2023 TT on my account and he wishes that I had used his account. Is there any way to delete the license from my account so he can use it instead?
No, but you can use his computer to Sign In to your Intuit account and Download TurboTax to his computer, so that he can use it. It doesn't matter that it's your copy of TurboTax he uses to prepare his return.
You can install the program on five different computers, but you have to Sign In to your Intuit Account and Download on each one, as they're all supposed to be your computers.
That's not the issue I had. I want to delete the license from my account so it can be activated on his account. He wants this because we had traditionally had it on his account and I mistakenly put it on my account. Of course, it doesn't really matter because he can log into my account to download it on another computer, but he want the record of having had it on his account. Man thing. And yes, I know I will have to re-enter everything.

Why would you have to re-enter your return? Your return is in an .tax2023 file. You can open it in any Desktop program. Are you filing Separate returns?
And may I ask why you are filing separate returns? Sometimes people don't realize the differences between filing Joint and MFS.
Here's some things to consider about filing separately……
In the first place you each have to file a separate return, so that's two returns. And if you are using the Online version that means using 2 accounts and paying the fees twice. The Desktop CD/Download program would be better to use.
Many people think they come out better when filing Married Filing Separate but they are probably doing it wrong. If one person itemizes deductions on Schedule A then the other one must itemize too, even if it's less than the standard deduction, even if it is ZERO! And if you are in a Community Property state it can be complicated to figure out.
And there are several credits you can't take when filing separately, like the
EITC Earned Income Tax Credit
Child Care Credit
Educational Deductions and Credits
And contributions to IRA and ROTH IRA are limited when you file MFS.
Also if you file Married Filing Separately up to 85`% of your Social Security becomes taxable right away even with zero other income.

If you still wish to transfer your license, you would need to contact TurboTax customer support.
