The IRS has not taken my bank payment. How can I make sure my payment information is correct?

You can contact the IRS to inquire.

How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

The IRS has not taken my bank payment. How can I make sure my payment information is correct?

It worked today. Not that I really wanted to pay my taxes, but it's better than going to jail. My return was accepted on March 30 and the debit happened on April 1, so 2 days. Not bad. Thanks to other posters for the information.

Where is the Federal Worksheet.  I just efiled an amended tax and can't see any detail related to my direct debit information on the 1040X.   Nothing that says worksheet either on the 2021 Amendeded tax pdf that I downloaded from turbotax.

I'm in the same situation as you for an amended return I just efiled via TurboTax.  No way to tell if they recorded my direct debit information since it is not shown on the 1040X Amended tax form at all.   Not sure why Turbo Tax would not show this critical  direct debit information on the pdf form to ensure it was processed correctly.  Did Turbo Tax forget to include this info for amended returns or is there another place to check for amended tax returns and if direct debit was successfully process via TurboTax?

@Lucyf

The reason it does not show on Form 1040-X is

electronic withdrawal of funds and direct deposit of refunds is not available with an amended tax return.

You have to pay any amount you owe separately.

When filing the 2021 Amended Tax form via TurbTax, TurboTax did provide me with the capability to do a direct debit.

How do you know it is not allowed by TurboTax for an amendment??  Where are you getting this information?  If it is truly not allowed, TurboTax has a MAJOR flaw/bug in their Amended Tax software since it give you the option to efile and pay via direct debit in their online software program.

OK My error.

It is only direct deposit of refund that cannot be done electronically for Form 1040-X.

It is now day # 23 of them not taking my payment, Federal was accepted but still nothing.

If you amended the return before the original return had fully processed then that could be the delay in the debit since they will not even look at the amended return for weeks or months.

The IRS has not taken my bank payment. How can I make sure my payment information is correct?

I understand about the time lag due to volume.  However, I have gotten a letter from the IRS stating they have processed my e-filed return but haven't gotten the payment, so they are assessing fees.  I can't file from teh software unless I include the payment info.  The money is still in the account and when I call the IRS I get a bot that says we are too busy, go away!  Please advise.

Same here.  I just got a letter that they have processed my return and are charging fees for non-payment.  The money is still waiting in my account

Did you pay?   If so send them the proof of payment.

Did  you set up for a direct debit and the IRS did not complete the process ?    Did you set it up correctly ?  Does the IRS letter say they tried but it could not be completed ?

If you selected Direct Debit from your bank account to pay the Federal taxes owed, that information was sent with your e-filed federal tax return.

Look at the Federal Information Worksheet in Part V.  The bank name, routing number, account number and the date you selected to pay the taxes owed will be entered.  If you did not select Direct Debit from your bank account then nothing will be in Part V.  Look on your Federal Filing Instruction page for how you selected to pay the Federal taxes owed.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2021 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

For the State taxes owed the same type of information will be on the State Information Worksheet in Part V of the worksheet and on the State Filing Instructions page.

However most states, if not all, do not allow state taxes owed to be paid by Direct Debit when using tax preparation software.  They require the payment by Direct Debit only when using the State tax authorities website.

e-filed, gave routing and account info.  They haven't charged, that's why the money is still in the account
