Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

I am filing jointly with my spouse and did this last year as well.  When e-filing my taxes they were rejected due to the Adjusted Gross Income that I entered not matching the IRS database from my 2018 return.  When I click on the "Need Help" link next to the AGI it takes me to the video where it says to pull the information from "page 2, line 7" from the 1040.  I did this and it was rejected.  Now rereading the turbo tax prompt, it is specifically asking for only asking for only MY agi, listing my name, not asknig me and my spouses AGI.

Should I stick to the number on line 7, or should I just input my AGI?

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

You and your spouse have the same AGI.

You can find your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:

  • Looking at line 7 on page 2 of your 2018 Form 1040; or
  • You can request a transcript of your 2018 tax return from the IRS to ensure you have the right number. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript

Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number.  If you:

  • Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0.
  • Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A).
  • Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less.
  • Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2018 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter 0 for one of you).

Thank you for the clarification, do you know if there is a limit on the number of tries that I can try to resubmit through turbo tax when updating the AGI? I've tried twice already

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

my 2019 return has been rejected due to my AGI of 2018. I was audited that year and paid additional taxes of $200. I assume that changed my AGI...how do I proceed?

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

You still use the AGI from the first original filed return. When did you file 2018? If it was late in the year try putting in zero for the AGI. And see, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-ge...

If your spouse died during 2019 there is a problem efiling and you will have to mail your return

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

Hi, my taxes keep getting rejected due to a wrong AGI.  However, even when I went on the IRS website, it has the same AGI on there.  I've been rejected twice.  I don't know where to go from here.

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2019 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.

When did you file 2019? If it was late in the year or you mailed it, try putting in 0 (zero) for the AGI. And see, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-ge...

Tried putting zero down.  Yes, will have to mail.  It's made things more difficult, paid $300 for the convenience and in the end, no convenience at all.

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

Hi.....I encountered the same  problem. Did you find a solution?

Taxes Rejected due to adjusted gross income

My 2020 tax return is being rejected because of the AGI from 2019. I checked the IRS tax transcripts and have determined that the 2019 AGI of $9xxx is correct. I used TurboTax Free File software which was fine. What will happen now that I must mail in my return after Oct 15. I expect now that penalties will apply. Please inform.

Did you try entering 0 for the AGI?  That works for most people.
