Hello,
I received my federal refund, but my state tax took $1,139 out of my account! I think this is a mistake, I would like to help with this as soon as possible.

Better check your state return. Sounds like you had a tax due not a refund.
That looks like you had state taxes owed and not a state tax refund.
Look at your Hawaii tax return Form N-11. If there is an amount on Line 47a then you had a state tax refund. If there is an amount on Line 48 then you had state taxes owed.

Hi, thanks for the reply! But I have received a refund every year, up until this year. Nothing has changed... I am still a student who does not make a lot of money...
Compare your return with last year's. Maybe you entered an amount wrong like for state withholding. Or entered a decimal point in the wrong place.

If there is a mistake on your state tax return then it can be amended to correct the mistake. But first you must look at your state tax return to find the error, if any.
