Did the state return go though but not the tax due payment? I assume you efiled and mean the tax payment?
Your only proof of payment is your bank statement or credit card showing the payment coming out. Turbo Tax only passes your bank account number to the state for the state to take it out of your account. But most states do not let you pay by Direct Debit so you have to mail in a check or go directly to the state's website to pay.
Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbo Tax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

Well the return didn't go through either. my state contacted me asking why I never filed my state tax return. I feel like something is missing here. I can see that I should have sent a payment but why would the state never have received my state taxes?
@maxwell-bean No one else can see your account so we do not know what happened to your state return. Did you e-file?
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return. What does it show in your TurboTax account?
If your state return was rejected you will need to print, sign and mail it now. And your only proof that you paid your state tax due would be your own bank or credit card records, so if you did not pay, you need to do so when you file the return.
You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment. For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

Looks like according to TurboTax, it never was sent out to the state. I guess I must have messed up on that. Well, looks like everything is resolved here!
Hello!
I am currently going through this. I just received a letter saying i owe state taxes from 2 years prior and this is the first I'm hearing of it. In turbotax it shows the state tax was neither accepted, rejected or even pending. But I paid state tax through the year as shown on my w2 and even paid the amount i owed after filing my tax return so i don't get how it was never submitted.
How did you go about getting this resolved when it happened to you?
It says you owe tax due or you didn't file your return? You need to print out and mail your state return now. If you paid the amounts you owed you should have a credit at the state. Maybe they need your return to match up with the credit. Paying the Turbo Tax fees doesn't file the return.
If you efiled you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.
The letter said I didn’t file the return. But I was certain I did because when I filed it (after filing my federal) it said I owed $5. I paid that $5 and got confirmation that it was paid. Then never heard anything else about it until now. But apparently the state return was never accepted. No where in TurboTax does it allow me to see the stat return. My 2022 tax return document shows I paid my taxes but for the state there are “do not file” water marks on it.
I called the state and they said to email them my tax return so I did today. But I’m afraid that won’t be enough since it has the “do not file” water marks on the state pages.
thank you for your help by the way.
I think it says do not file if you didn't pay the Turbo Tax fee to file state. I would call support and ask. You would have to install the 2022 Desktop program and download the .tax2022 file from online to print out a good copy.
