Done with Federal transmission and about to transmit CA Tax. Paid $25 CA State e-file, but transmission failed due to file was locked and cannot be saved. I tried a couple of times, but the transmission was unsuccessful. I exited and opened it again. Instead of where I left off, it came back where you put the bank information again and up to where you have to "pay with your credit card" for $44.99 or pay with your Federal refund. I cannot get to the point where I left off to transmit the CA Tax; instead, I will mail the CA Return. How will I get the $25 back since I cannot transmit the CA State Tax 2020? Thank you.

I just had the same happen to me California state charged me $26.93 to e-file but can't e-file Federal or State. How does someone get a refund, and/or a response. I can't figure out who to call either. I'm going to have to send both by mail and I'd sure like a refund. Any ideas? Thank you
I also have the same problem. I paid for 2 state e-file but IRS rejected them...I had to do a mail in. Would like a refund.
I have same problem. Paid for efile but transmission failed. I have to mail paper return. how can I get refund?
I have the same issue. Can you please let me know how yours was resolved? My federal says accepted but on Turbo Tax it shows have not efiled.
Thanks.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

@Simba05 How can it say Accepted and Not Filed? The not filed one might be in the wrong account.
It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online.
Thanks. My version is a desktop version.
I finally got a live person and after speaking to 2 representatives, was told that they see that my return was FILED and ACCEPTED on their end but can't explain why on my TurboTax software side it shows that I have not e filed and hence I could not file my state tax. Did process a refund for me. Asked me to wait for 3 days to see if the system plays catch up and reflects correctly.
Transmission failed on my federal and state return. What can I do?
Please provide more details on any possible error messages received surrounding the failed transmission. In the meantime, I am including a few help resources below:
What if transmit returns doesn't work?
Transmission did not go through due to server issue
@capt22
Yes I paid for the state return, but the e-file was denied. I then decided to do a paper return.
Thank you,

We do not have access to your account in this public forum. Please feel free to contact Customer Support so they can assist you. If you inquire about a refund, you will want to use the keywords billing issues when you call so you get to the right person.
I also paid for two state and one federal e-file, but even after several attempts, the Intuit server was evidently unable to process them. I ended up having to mail all the returns. There is NO useful customer support in this (or really, any) situation. TurboTax should AUTOMATICALLY refund the cost of e-filing, but it looks as though it's going to take time spent on abortive phone calls (cannot seem to speak to a real person, only a clueless robot), letters to headquarters... or maybe a complaint to the attorney general?
