My husband and I only got $2140 and were due $3400. We have 2 dependents and file married joint under $150k. Should we expect additional monies coming??
Same issue! We were shorted one dependent born April 2019- we didn't file our 2019 taxes until April 2020 though so I assume they used the info from our 2018 return when we only had 2 kiddos.
The stimulus is capped at $3400. That’s the most you can get.
Exactly! Us too!! Almost to the dollar the same amount in our stimulus deposit.....what is up with that??
We didnt make $150k in 2018 jointly and we only got $2140 in our stimulus direct deposit. We are due 3400 for married joint and 2 dependents. Will we get the difference coming in a separate payment?? Sounds like we arent the only ones with this same issue.....please advise if possible.
Lots of questions, few answers on this forum. I thought the TT “experts” would have concrete answers to the question we all have: what can we do about an incorrect payment?
US TOO. We have no idea what to do. Very frustrated.
Ejluzar.....wondering the same.....I dont see any answers to these questions people are posting and it sounds like most of us are in the same boat.....Having made less than the $150k income cap and not having received what we were eligible for. I know that we only got $2140 and, as a married couple filing jointly having made less than 150k, we should have gotten AT LEAST $2400. We also have 2 dependents, one was 8 when we filed our 2018 taxes and the other 15 so we should get $1000 additional for them as well. Why are these payments incorrect and at such an odd amount ($2140) if our income was less than $150k jointly AND we have 2 qualifying dependants?? I hope we can get some answers from the "experts" soon vs waiting 15+ days for a letter from the IRS......
We are a household of 4, 2 being dependents and we only got $2900. My son, who is 25 gets SSI and I file him as a dependent every year. We should have received something for him.
My check was wrong. I only received credit for one child. My oldest was 18 still living with me, my son was 17 and my daughter was 3 as of the first of the year. I am a single mom but couples are receiving more. I find something wrong with this
My hubby gets SSDI and VA dis. as well have a 6 y.o. We figured we'd get $2900 (since I and my son get money from SS for hubby being on SS).Well we got a direct dep. of only $1700. Normally we don't file taxes sowe haven't done any since 2017. I did make a few hundred in 2018 and was gonna try and file so hopefully I could get my 1200 from the stimulus I thought we'd get from his SS. I tried to use the non filers on IRS.gov but it just keeps rejecting it. I read that it says if you were married you should be filing w/your spouse but if he has already gotten his stimulus then how could I do that? I've tried just filing myself with the Non filers but as said -gets rejected saying my AGI isn't right. I know what it was so not sure why it says it is wrong. WISH there were some way to get help with all of this. Hate to miss out but still appreciative for what we did get already. Any one have any helpful tips? Thanks
My dad passed away in July, 2018. My mom filed her taxes in 2018 but has not yet filed for 2019. The 2018 taxes stated my dad was deceased during the year. Mom received her stimulus check today for $2400, not $1200. Now what does she do?
The amount is based on line 11 B of your tax return if it’s a1040. So the 401(k) money does count towards the limit
Google It. It's everywhere.
I did not use Turbo Tax this year, but have in the past. I got my right amount but my SIL did not. I don't understand why people are blaming Turbo Tax for this. If people would just google it you can find all the guidlelines and exactly what they should have received.
I landed on this page when I googled the issue, because it was the first and pretty much only page that I found others had the same problem. I have since seen articles with complaints that the IRS deposited checks into the wrong bank accounts, but not that they paid the incorrect amounts. I have also seen that some people got money for their 18 year old dependents.
These are huge mistakes and Clearly the IRS messed up on quite a few stimulus check amounts. How convenient for them that there is no one to answer to this problem. I hope they figure this out and fix the problem for all of these people.
