I logged into my online TT account. Nothing changed. Same message about updates expected by 5 March. Sadly, I have zero faith in Turbo tax. Turbo tax is not keeping us informed. I even tried messaging TT on facebook. Got a fast answer with suggestion to delete IRA 1099 form and reenter and refile. Didn't work. Got rejected again both federal and State return. If it turns out that i have file paper by mail, I will really be irate since I am due large federal and state refunds. I have been told by a friend who works in IRS high level position that the processing of paper returns is very slow. Don't know why TT representative are not on this forum.
I would think that if TT knew a week ago that there were calculation problems affecting filing, that they would notify users "before" they filed in the days since (with an ETA for the fix), rather than create extra anxiety in users by allowing them to file, get a submission 'rejected', until they have a chance to research and realize it wasn't our fault. For a week, developers obviously knew which calculations and forms are affected.
I'd much rather receive the message prior to filing "our calculations on form 8xxx are being revised and will not be ready for you to submit your taxes until Mar.5. We appreciate your patience while we update our software." Transparency !
They should know by now that there’s an issue/bug. Hopefully they are working on it. And they are yet to inform those who filed, and about to file of this issue. They haven’t done that.
they are still letting people file, and get their returns rejected. That’s just unfair.
Has Turbo Tax program been updated to correct "return was rejected due to Inherited IRA issue" ?
Could not agree more with you. One of my jobs in the past was to develop customer service programs and to review organizations' customer services procedures and effectiveness. This TT fiasco is one the poorest examples of customer services I have seen. Responsive and effective communications is key. Under promise, over deliver. TT has not only created undue stress for its customers and financial worries but has increased its own workload by having to individually respond to customers who have been kept in the dark not to mention degrading its own reputation. I recommended customers (including two of my grandchildren this year) but regret doing so. My guess is TT they will lose some current customers as well as some potential new ones.
My return was also rejected for issues with an inherited ira, which I don't have not did I ever indicate this. Seems to be a problem with the program. Very frustrating.
I got an update to TT this morning. The message about the March 5th update was no longer there so I resubmitted my return. Hopefully the issue was resolved.
I received the same message on March 3. I don't have an inherited IRA. However, I did move a Rollover IRA into my 403b, and a non-deductible traditional IRA contribution to my Roth. Glad I'm not the only one who got that message. It sent me into a panic. Hopefully we'll all get this fixed on March 5.
Good to hear it might be fixed. Please post again if you get an accepted or rejected notice. I'll wait for another day or two and then try again.
> Transparency !
I think we can give up on Turbotax being transparent and communicating well with customers. They used to publish release notes so that you could determine what actions to take if you were awaiting a specific fix. Then they stopped doing that, yet left the link in for it that just went to a 404 sorry page. #LucyAndTheFootballPart1
Last April, they promised that release notes would soon be published again. But that was a lie. #LucyAndTheFootballPart2
I also got an update this morning. However, after installing the update on my Mac the message about resolving the issue by March 5th is in fact still there. So I am guessing still not safe to submit? If anyone has success after this morning's update please let us know! Thanks
I had the same issue , had to recharacterize Roth into a reg ira but no inheritance tax. Following. Thanks
I went on the site this morning and still have the message to wait until March 5.
I am considering filing a complaint against Intuit with the Better Business Bureau which will require a specific response about this issue. At minimum, we desire a reasonable reduction of filing fees.
Checked the online version today - same status - "maybe we will fix it by 5 March." I have complained to my insurance company - USAA - who provides a link to use TurboTax on their site. Since TurboTax will not address what is going on, I have asked my US Congressman to reach out to Intuit. On Saturday - if not fixed - I will request a refund from my credit card company and proceed to another vendor. I recognize the tax code is complex - Gee, that is why we use software - but to continue to not address the issue AND continue to encourage people to file, knowing they will be rejected - is simply a display of contempt for one's customers. Not happy, turbotax.
