Same. Very frustrating to try all the suggestions and have it keep failing!

Is it New York or Massachusetts?   If so, a FAQ was updated yesterday with special manual update installers for NY and MA in the Windows version.

Why can't I e-file my return on TurboTax for Mac?

No. Michigan and I have a Mac, so a PC fix won't help me.

The long awaited update that turbo tax has been waiting for actually came out today....

let’s see if we can transmit today!!!

I downloaded the manual update and was only then I was able to efile.

After a few tries, I quit Turbotax on my Mac. Then I opened the saved tax return directly by clicking the specific tax return icon (not by opening the general program first). It then allowed me to download and install a 214 megabyte update at about 8:20 pm. I then was able to transmit my Massachusetts and Federal returns. Maybe this update just became available at this time or maybe I just needed to close and open the program multiple times to finally get the update.

My Turbotax Premier for Mac does not file for the same reason, an update is needed which does not exist. Turbotax has sent me a new install, which does not work. How many Mac users have this issue and how many more will we see as we get closer to filing season?

I am running into the same problem. Obviously after I paid for the State Return and I have tried all the fixes that have been recommended so far.  It appeared to me that the technical challenge was solved for other people by "State" updates so I went back and only selected file my Federal return (State Later) and that worked immediately. I have since gone back to e-file my state return and I get the same error message.

 

I am going to go back and try to update the state return (AL) and try to e-file it again. If that doesn't work I will wait a while to file the state or mail it...I will keep you updated

GREAT NEWS I FIGURED IT OUT! For Mac 

After e-filing my Federal Return Separately! and Receiving my confirmation screen.

I went back and clicked on "TurboTax" tab in upper right hand corner

I held down the "option" key on my keyboard which changed "check for updates" to "download latest updates"

I clicked on "download latest updates" (the screen showed it updating my AL State Return) it took a few sec.

At the end it told me the updates had been completed and asked me if I wanted to return to the tax return. I DID NOT select continue!

I simply went back to the "TurboTax" tab and chose "Quit Turbo Tax" (it reminded me I had already paid for my state return and asked me to come back and file at a later date) 

Once TurboTax was closed I simply re-opened it and it began to "install" the AL State Update. Once it finished updating I went back to "File" and e-filed the State Return and IT WORKED! YEA!
