The Payer FEIN number was registered on 2022 but Payer gave a 2021 W2 and IRS is rejecting the efile. Would it help if report by mail or the IRS will still reject the tax since the W2 is reporting on 2021 year.
Payor FEIN not matches W2 for current year

I am having the exact same problem and like you not seeing any help or REAL advise. I think this is an error in this years software, because it has never been an issue in years past. Same casinos same EIN numbers.
Please see the above response from Katrina LO. If those steps don't resolve the issue and you need additional assistance, please click here to get you connected to the right person for help. @JO129
Has anyone found a work around. Mine was rejected today for this same reason.
I had to delete all of my W2s and then resubmit them (even though it contained the exact same data).
The same thing has happened to our son. I've noticed a lot of people who used turbo tax saying that their EIN numbers were correct, yet rejected. Is there a glitch in this years turbo tax? If so has it been fixed?
I agree, with thinking there is a glitch in this years turbo tax.
There is no known issue ... try manually entering in the W-2 if you are importing it.
And check with the employer to find out when they got the EIN as it may be too new thus the IRS system will not accept it electronically.
One other poster in this thread mentioned that the EIN had 2 hyphens (xxx-xx-xxxx) instead of the correct format of only one hyphen (xx-xxxxxxx) indicating the issuer probably used their SS# instead of an EIN which is not allowed on a W-2 and will never pass the efile checking.
As of 2023, today 1/24.. this problem is still happening. Had no problems with any of the last 7 years taxes with this EIN and this year it's saying something is wrong. Intuit you have an issue.
The EIN rejection typically occurs when the payer's federal ID number doesn't match the IRS's records.
Below are steps to resolve this issue:
If however, the EIN in question belongs to your business you can ask the IRS to search and confirm your EIN by calling the Business & Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday.
I’m having the same issue and I’m getting frustrated! I do not want to mail my return. The EiN numbers are the same as last year and were fine. I didn’t use Turbo Tax though. At this point, I probably never will again. Of course I’ve already been charged by Turbo tax. I really need to know how to fix this!
Try deleting the W-2 in the program, log out, clear your cookies and then try entering it again.
Also check with the employer ... it could be an error on the W-2 form that they made.
My frustration level was so high with this problem last year, I finally gave up and bought H&R block. Nothing fixed this EIN error and the more you tried to enter the w2g the slower the program got. If you have gambling wins STAY AWAY FROM TURBOTAX. Turbo tax offered no help and the customer service people all offer the same solution, check with the company etc. I had used TT for years and nothing had changed with the EIN. GREAT TO SEE they have not fixed this error
