My TurboTax provides a $10 credit for state tax filing.  I am not able to follow the instructions to add that service. When I open TurboTax, I can find no way to add that optional service. AddOn.jpg

What tax year are you trying to e-file?   It is way too late to e-file a 2021 return and way too soon to try to e-file a 2022 return.

AddOn.jpg2022. The directions included do not state that the credit is added when the state taxes are e-filed. But perhaps that is how it works.

You do not mention where you purchased the CD/download.  I have not seen anything about an offer for a credit toward the state e-filing fee.   Usually with the CD/download it is $20 to e-file a state return and the fee increases to $25 after March 1.   I avoid the state e-file fee altogether by printing and mailing the state returns.

I suspect the discount will kick in when you can actually e-file.   Did the packaging contain any sort of promo code for the discount?

Thanks for the screen shot.   We might get more questions.  It appears that your license code has the data within in it so that when you e-file you get the one-time discount on the state e-file.

That's what I'm guessing. I always purchase the TurboTax disk at Costco. But like I said, I'm guessing...

  1. Add one of the optional add-on features or services (listed above) directly within the TurboTax product. Additional features and services require internet connectivity

There is no instruction about how to add that optional add-on feature or service.

When you select to e-file the state tax return the credit will be applied

Or -

When you select to purchase another state tax program the credit will be applied

Or -

When you select to purchase Audit Defense the credit will be applied

That's what I was guessing. I'll find out in a few weeks...

Yes ... this will happen in step 1 of the  FILE tab which cannot be reached until you can get thru the REVIEW tab cleanly.

I had the same problem when using TurboTax desktop.  When I tried to e-file my state taxes the $10 discount was not initially applied, but I was able to fix the issue by doing the following steps

  1. Open the TurboTax software
  2. Click Help then switch product
  3. Enter the license code
  4. Next click on file then sign in
  5. Sign into your intuit account
  6. Go to the file tab, the discount should appear when you reach the payment tab

When I used TurboTax to efile my state taxes, the discount was applied. I pain only $10 for the efile.
