The 2019 Form 1040 and the 2019 Form 1040-SR are the exact same federal tax return. Only the Form 1040-SR has a larger type face for senior taxpayers.
I want to use the 1040-SR like I did last year, but Turbo Tax only has 1040, but the standard deduction is different. 1040 shows Standard Ded for Single as $12,400 and the 1040 SR shows it to be $14,050. Can someone explain this to me?
TurboTax will automatically generate the 1040SR based on the birthday in the Personal Info section. After you enter your information, you will see the increased standard deduction in the summary (see below).
