Which type of PIN are you referring to?
In most cases, you can use your prior year AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) to electronically sign your tax return for e-filing. However, there are cases in which individuals create a Self-Select PIN or an IP PIN is required for security purposes. Please read the below links for more information concerning your PIN.

What if my husband and I did not e-file before and we do not have a 5 digit self select PIN? Turbo tax wants me to create one for myself and one for my husband. I did so but Turbo Tax keeps rejecting me saying that 5 digit self select PIN does not match or I entered the AGI wrong. There is no way for me to enter the wrong AGI because I am checking from my husband's IRS 2021 tax return transcript (he filed jointly and sent via mail on behalf of us). Please advise.
@AUE1 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2020 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2020 AGI might not be in the IRS system. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
