It is not the first time, i can't e-file because of a bug on this software, but this time is just too obvious.
I get an exception on the attachment of form 8949. Whey I look at the forms, i see this form was autogenerated by the software, but it is not called form8949, as the exception says, it is called "form 8949 (copy 1)". So it is a very beginning software mistake, to look for a file name that is named differently...
I wish i could go in the source code and change it myself. As it will obviously delay my refund by more than a month... TurboTax should at least pay 4.5% interest because of the delay this software is causing.
I'm a system engineer by the way.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can e-file, even if you reported your sales in a summary format. Are you trying to e-file? You don't need to manually fill out Form 8949, because we automatically do that when you enter your investment sales or exchanges.
If you’re paper-filing your return, Form 8949 will simply be included with all your other tax forms when you print them out.
If you're e-filing, you only need to mail the IRS a copy of your 8949 (along with Form 8453) if you entered sales section totals for one or more sales categories (instead of each individual sale) and one of the following is true:
Do I have to mail in Form 8453?
Yes, i have both short and long term sales. and Yes, i have no control over this form and how it is called. This is exactly why i'm so upset, because the software TurbotAX on my mac is not creating the 8949 correctly and with the right name... and this is delaying my return.
The minimum you should do to make this correct is let my file by the browser for free. I'm sure i will not have this problems if filling through the web browser, but i have not intention of spending more than $100 again! To file taxes that i did correctly.
