Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I bought Turbo Tax at Best Buy, downloaded it onto my MacBook using the license code. Completed my taxes and it's asking me to pay an additional fee. Is this correct?

I think you used the Online web version by mistake.

When you filled out your return was there a black column on the left side with the menu items?  That was online.

I see people all the time that have bought the CD/Download Desktop Software but then somehow ended up using the Online version and didn't know it.  If that happened to you,  you can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info. Post back if you need to know how to move it to your Desktop program.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).

Did you purchase desktop software with state software included?  They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose.  And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state.  There is an extra fee to e-file the state.  You can avoid the $24.99 state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.

BUT-----you are posting from online Deluxe----did you accidentally use the wrong program?  Instead of using the download software did you log on with an account and user ID and use online TT--if it is charging you more than $24.99 that's  a good sign that you made that mistake.

You can switch to the desktop software:https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/choosing-a-product/help/how-do-i-switch-from-turbotax-online-to-th...

How much is it charging you?

There is a 24.99 fee to efile a State return from the Desktop program.  Or it looks like you might have used the Online version instead of the Desktop program installed on your computer.  That happens to people sometimes.  We can tell you how to move an Online return to the Desktop program without paying for online.

Hello, I have the box with the code inside.  It has Federal, Federal E-File, and State Returns all checked on the front cover.  I bought it at Best Buy.  I just completed my taxes and the program is asking for another $105.00.

That's what I was guessing, but I've used an accountant that last few years so I wasn't sure if it just got really expensive!  It's asking for another $105.00 above paying whatever I paid for the box/CD at Best Buy.

@Year2020thue Why do you think you need to pay again?  You are posting to a thread that was started by someone else----so we do not really understand what problem you are having.   Please give us some details.
