I already paid and am now trying to deselect the state, how do I do this? I am unable to locate an area to change this.
Same issue--tried to file my mom's and my NC tax return. Neither went through.

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022
Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html
If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.
If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen. On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.
After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.
NC is always hosing stuff up. No surprises here. They were over a month late last year getting refunds out the door. Guess I'll set a reminder for 24 FEB 2022 to click update, transmit....
I'm having the similar error. I'm getting an error "Validation Error". I paid for the e-file and now I can't submit? Is there an error in TurboTax? I want the electronic file record not hope and pray it makes it via the USPS. TurboTax member for over a decade, and hoping you'll find a quick resolution so I don't have to change programs.
I am unable to transmit my state return too. TurboTax says it cannot transmit my 2021 NC state return. Already paid the $20 and now saying if it won't transmit, I need to mail them. What was the $20 for if not to eFile?

i'm getting this same message bout my 2021 cannot transmit due to unable to read data in the tax return. it also asks me to update tax program inwhich it tells me program is up to date. why won't my tax transmit i did one earlier with no problem.
Why do we keep getting this same robotic response?
We all received an email from turbotax stating this:
Your tax forms are ready. |
The wait is over! The tax forms we needed to finish up your taxes are ready.

This is not a form availability issue....unless the above email from turbotax was incorrect?
We could not upload before the recent update. The program now takes our $20 filing fee and allows us to attempt an upload which fails.
When will this problem be corrected?
Thanks!!
@41MV That was a poorly worded email from TurboTax. It should have read that those forms are available for printing and mailing only at this time.
The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 and Form NC D-400 Sch S, Supplemental

Thank you!!!!
That makes sense.
Let's not forget, TurboTax is only half the problem. The root cause is the NC legislature and Dept of Revenue. Employers are required to provide W2's by Jan 31st. Tax forms should ALWAYS be ready for use by Jan 1st, and at WORST case, Jan 31st.
The state owes an explanation. The legislature has to own its failure to establish the calendar requirements.
I am having the same issue trying to submit my e-file that includes the NC state return: "Tax year 2021 transmissions are not available - Turbotax is not ready to process tax year 2021 for this return."
I had already received an email saying the forms that we still pending are now ready: "

I was trying to file my NC state tax return and get the following message;
"The Intuit Electronic Filing Sysytem is having difficulty recognizing the data in the return you are sending. Make sure your TurboTax program is up-to-date. Go to the on-line menu and select Check for Updates. If you still can't transmit your return, go to www.support.turbotax.com for a solution or aworkaround. In some cases, you may need to file this return by mail. - Tax Year 2021transmissions are not available.- TurboTax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for this return."
I checked for updates and there were none. I have already e-filed my 2021 Federal tax returns but was unable at the time to file my state taxes because some NC forms were not available at that time. Any thoughts?
@peteyds The TurboTax email was poorly worded. It should have indicated that those forms are only available for printing and mailing at this time.
