I purchased Turbotax Home and Business and used it to determine my taxes owed but was unable to file on time because I had to reverse an overpayment to my Roth IRA. So, I filed for an extension through Turbotax Easy Extension online and paid all my taxes in full (state and federal). As far as I can tell, there was no way to do this through Turbotax--I had to do it online.
Now--I am ready to e-file my taxes on Turbotax but it keeps telling me I owe taxes and need to make the payment again. There is no way to inform Turbotax that I already paid my taxes. What can I do??

Just say you will mail a check, then you don't need to send a payment again. Did you enter the amount paid with the extension?
You can type estimates paid in the search box at the top of your return and click Find and it will give you a link to Jump To the screen where you enter Extension Payments.
To enter the amount you paid with an extension (including state extension) go to
Federal Taxes (or Personal for desktop H&B version)
Deductions and Credits
Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
Other Income Taxes - Click the Start or Update button
Next page second section Payments with Extension
Either Visit All or Click Start or Update by the extension you paid
To get the amount paid on a state extension to show up on the state return……
When you are done updating your federal return, you need to transfer the new federal information by going back through the state tab and the state return. Nothing will change until you transfer the fed info to the state again.
In the Desktop program you can switch to Forms Mode and open the Tax Payments Worksheet (up under Federal) and check or enter the state extension payment.
Thank you! This is very helpful. I was able to e-file my federal return.
I have an old note that says......
Since you've made multiple state extension payments, you will need to enter the total amount of state extension payments you've made. The program will enter this total on your federal return but you will need to go to each state return and enter the extension payment in the state interview for it to be accurately reported on your state return.
If you already successfully efiled the fed & states and did not enter the extension payments correctly then just wait ... the taxing authorities usually pick up and correct this oversight automatically.
